It would be just plain stupid to pass up on Thabeet. Why are the lakers going to win the championship this year? Because they have numerous guys with size, length, and athleticism. Thabeet offers a ton of that and he's been coached by one of the best. You just can't pass on him.

Rubio?I just don't see his style translating over to the NBA as well as people think it will. He will have to develop his 3 point shot alot more before he becomes a starter in the NBA. Thabeet could probably come in to the NBA and be a top 5-10 player at his position in his rookie year.

One thing to remember is that Rubio started over Calderon because of a injury. Pretty sure of that, could be wrong though.

But i'm sure he's going to be Spain's starter for the next Fiba event.

Maybe but he has a lot to learn and his elders like Scola are leaps and bounds better than him. I would rather have size personally but I won't be mad if we get Rubio bc I have high hopes for him.

Rubio looks 15 years old. My God, he'd be the NBA version of Wesley Crusher. It would be such a huge gamble to give up Brooks for this guy, seriously.

Hasheem Thabeet is perfect for the Rockets. Hes a C and in this interview i saw earlier he said people think he plays in the levels between yao and deke. How perfect is that? Interview : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lbaaIEEmEmI

The sound is dead on my computer otherwise I would listen to the link you provided. Did he really say people think he plays like Yao? I hope he just means defensively because on offense they're nothing alike at all.

He's just a Rocket fan, I'm surprised he didn't throw Hakeem in there.

Is it just me or does he actually sound like Yao and Deke, a little more like Yao though.

Thabeet is a nice player and will be a decent pro but I expect something much more than him at the #2 spot. If we acquired that pick, I would first look to see what the market is to trade it and if we had to choose a player in the draft, it would be between Rubio and Harden. Rubio would be my choice at #2 but i would look to move down a few spots and get another player in trade.

Morey probably sees this as plan b if they find a team offering a better player for the pick. Or maybe that is what he is actually hoping for with the thought if it fails he still has a number 2 pick. Undoubtedly the Rockets have assest the draft talent so there is obviously someone they are interested knowing a trade for the pick is not a garuntee.

Thabeet will not be great right off the bat, but he could be scary 3-4 years from now...imo.

Brooks + Hayes for Rubio, then
    Rubio(2m) + TMac (23m) + Cook (Landry) (3m) for Nash (13m) + Amare (16m)

Would suns swallow that? They are rebuilding, ain't they?

Brooks + Hayes is not worth close to 2nd pick.

The second trade is just terrible for the Rockets.

if we trade up for a high pick i dont think we'll keep whoever we draft. that just doesn't seem like something morey would do. his big thing is reducing risk and maximizing reward; the draft is pretty much the riskiest kind of talent acquisition. if he trades for the #2 i bet we'll see him trade that down for a mid/low-teens pick and one of those 'underrated' players that he has an eye on.
