We don't have anyone to play QB right now. Same situation, different team IMO. Hope Case proves me wrong though.

no college coaches who haven't had any NFL experience which is what mcnair said today...he wants someone with nfl experience...so sumlin, briles, shaw are out of the question...i like gruden.
He says he's not a one and done guy, but is he a two and done guy? http://www.pennlive.com/pennstatefootball/index.ssf/2013/01/bill_obrien_is_staying_at_penn.html
I'd take a Dynasty with Gruden for the next 6 out of 10 years over anthing else. I may be able to see things for real.
Playing hard to get? http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/12/08/jon-gruden-not-expected-to-coach-in-2014/
Everybody get ready Shan is trying to wrap up everything in DC asap so he can come to Houston. This may be quite a drought fans will have to endure.
No just Shanahan's camp trying to get out of DC. He is not coming to Houston. It will either be Lovie Smith (most likely....like 90% chance), David Shaw, or Sumlin (who hasn't signed that A&M offer yet).
I agree to an extent, Lovie Smith and Ken Whisenhunt seem to be the leaders in the clubhouse right now. Shaw, as much as I'd love to have him, why are the Texans going to be the lucky team that gets him away from Stanford? I'd say a longshot and unlikely. Sumlin, we'll see.
Eh, it's a good job. Not the typical rebuild. You have several major pieces already in place (Watt, Andre, the #1 pick, hopefully a healthy Cushing and Foster), an owner that will spend, and a market that sells out every game and brings in major revenue. There are still questions, certainly, but I'd say it's more attractive for a potential coach than 80% of NFL vacancies. Maybe Shaw wants to stay at Stanford, but if he's seriously interested in the NFL, I'd bet he takes a good look.
The Texans might actually be one of the more attractive teams if Shaw is looking to bolt for the NFL. In no particular order, here are the possible openings: 1. Texans 2. Bucs 3. Raiders - Proximity might be a factor 4. Vikings 5. Titans However, if Rex gets canned in NY, the Jets would be a pretty a big offer.
Immediately eliminating college coaches for the coaching search is just stupid. Limiting the search to mostly defensive minded ex coaches is just backwards thinking. This league Has been moving heavily towards offense from rules to talent. The Texans think this is 2010. They need to evolve.
Pancakes is adamant that Shannahan will not even be considered for the HC position. This has me very, very worried.
