I'm saying it would be preferable to stopping the action so some clown can read tweets.

Agreed. But they'd never allow unfiltered tweets to scroll across the screen.

They should have him do something else. I don't know, maybe relay some of the more interesting "advanced stats" that are apparently being tracked and displayed on the giant scoreboard. They keep referencing that during the telecast, but never share with the television (or internet) audience what those numbers are.

Tweet reader is lame. His tweet reading overlaps into actual play, so instead of hearing play by play, I get this guy reading tweets as fast as he can. You could acomplish the same thing by just crawling it across the bottom of the screen ala TRL.....

Oh, I see what Commodore was getting at now. Yeah, take the tweets he would have read, and just show it on the screen instead. Remove him altogether from the telecast. If they want to include him on TV somehow, have him talk about something more interesting than what the fans are chattering about. Maybe relay an opinion from the coach or the GM on the current game, for example.

Last night's pointless twitter updates were a big improvement from the previous one. At least yesterday's had the tweets up on the screen instead of him with his head buried in his phone scrolling and reading. Awful stuff all around though either way.

Agreed, his job is pointless. If they insist on keeping this segment on the show, at least throw something better to look at out there. Still pointless though.

They don't stop the action, they do these during a timeout or coming back from commercial. And it's about maybe five minutes of total broadcast time. I agree it's unnecessary, but man, people love to get fired up over the most meaningless crap.

CSN is not mauryballin. For what they're paying him, they could just have matt bullard read the tweets like last year or at least have a hot RPD reading them. new age pshh.

for ho chen though, that's a freaking awesome job, easy and a great view.

Just pinch your nose and read some tweets. The dude is literally getting paid to do that. Could've kept Livingston except they hire this guy. *sighs*

Don't be a dumb ass, you really think a comcast hire and a Rockets cut are related?

Look... I get that the guy is new to the city, and sort of huge nerd. That's not my problem with him.

However.... When he takes up air time to have Twitter folks Tweet him a response to a question like- "Who is the Rockets greatest player of all time" nonsense, and spends 2 minutes of air time to discuss the overwhelming results... Come on...Do some research on the franchise you are essentially now working for, and stop insulting our intelligence.

If you are trying to hit the 10 year old demographic then I guess he's doing his job correctly... But fans who have been following the Rockets for longer than a minute are going to want to punch you in the face for even asking that.

Oh and the .... "is Lin the next Yao Ming??" question... come on Ho Chen... I get what you are trying to do, but you are making yourself look like a complete moron. Its probably not his fault, and his producers, but he's the one that ends up looking like a complete idiot.

    Tinman = Ho Chen

Which is why he feels so comfortable spitting racial slurs at people. Tinman is really Asian.

He's horrible, it seems like a sad attempt to focus on Asians because his voice his terrible, he doesn't do anything to make the sequences entertaining / funny and the idea is cheesy. I actually feel sorry for the guy, some1 probably said:

"Hey let's have a little Asian dude do some social network stuff, you know those guys love technology and this way we appease to a bigger crowd and have more youth involved who like to that tweeter stuff"

Let's just call it what it is. Howard Chen was brought in because of the whole Jeremy Lin situation. Perhaps Ho_Chen brings in the young asian demographic?
