Davis, like Harden, has been suffering from adapting to a new style. He'll figure it out.

It's a little unfair to say he is not an alpha dog because he hasn't led his team further. Look at the teams with only superstar -- early career Durant, last year's Westbrook, Harden's first year in Houston, Wade the year before Lebron came, etc. Most of them end up with records about the same as Davis's team last year. He's got a lot of mediocre talent around him.

    Mike Conley

He's been described as the most underrated point guard in the league by everyone to the point where he has to be considered overrated now.

The difference is that Davis relies to an exceptional degree on assists to make his shots. He is a bad creator but an elite finisher. If I remember correctly 75% or so of his shots come off assists. And as everyone other, when the shots come off assists they fg% is much much higher.

    The big reason is Val.

Yes. There are many reasons. Lowry, Demar, Val. and Carroll.

Demar is not a reason. Now THAT is an extremely overrated "star". His shot selection is putrid.

Give me a break. His shot selection at times is questionable, but thus far this season, he's attacking the paint more than he has before. 11 FT/game.

    22.5 pts, 4 ast, 4 rbs. 43%fg.

He's definitely a reason the Raptors are 5-0.

at times? He's lucky he gets to the line otherwise he would be compared to Nick Young.
    And how is his defence?

    Dwight Howard.

Guy can't play back to back and can't give a consistent output.

Outside of one game, his shot selection hasn't been an issue at all. His defense is serviceable, but that's why the addition of Carroll was huge. Don't have to stick Demar on the other teams best player anymore.

This is hilarious. Demar averages < 1.5 three pointers the past three seaons where Young averages > 5.5. Demar gets to the line > 7.5 times/game while Young gets to the line 2 times/game.

    They're not at all similar.

a slump does not make you overrated.

So far this year he's shooting a lot less at the rim and in addition his FG% is down at all distances. That suggests trouble adapting to a new system as well as a bit of bad luck.

It's true he's not a creator. But he has 3 years of history showing that he tremendously impacts both the offensive and defensive end. His career Ortg/Drtg is 118/103. At worst he's a healthy Tyson Chandler / Dwight Howard who can shoot FTs. That in itself is insanely valuable.

It would be nice if he could also be a creator. But the current NBA rules are biased against running an offense out of the post.

Both inefficient chuckers. Both bad defenders (Demar's defence has fallen off a cliff since a season ago) Both horrible shot selection that fail to involve the other players.
Looks pretty similar to me. The difference is Demar can get to the line so he can save face with his raw stats.
Oh and the reason Demar averages <1.5 3pointers is because he's the king of inefficient midrange that he can't even make well.

I see you are a craptor fan. Glad your team are going to have to pay 20 million per that the "star" is going to ask?
Enjoy your treadmilling. At least Paul Pierce has moved out to the West I guess.

His impact on the defensive end and his rim protection statistically is not elite. It's just good.
The problem is Tyreke's injury. As soon as Tyreke is back AD numbers will go up again.
And nobody asked him to be a full on creator. But relying on 70% + of your fgs on assists from your teammates doesn't scream MVP to me either.

How many Raptors games have you seen this year? Like I already mentioned, his shot selection hasn't been a real issue so far.

Over the course of three seasons Demar averages 4.5 apg. Meanwhile Nick Young averages 1.

    Kyrie Irving for me.

Some people treat him like he's the best PG in the league. He's great offensively, but he's so bad defensively. People say if he was healthy they would have beaten Golden State. They wouldn't have.
