I put Brooks there because he is now one of the older players on the team and has more experience (playoffs) than most players on the team.
Lin is the floor general but Harden is the actual leader. They are both leaders, but if you have to pick one it's clear that Lin defers to Harden.
You guys know that teams can have multiples leaders right? Miami has wade bosh lebron Spurs have duncan tony manu knicks have tyson amare melo i wouldnt be surprised if harden lin parsons are all leaders in different ways
As much as I want Harden (deservingly so) to be the sole leader of this team, he is just not vocal enough due to his personality. I noticed Parsons is the one who often calls for a huddle on the court. So I believe Parsons is more of the vocal leader of this team. Lin seems not very confident to assume the leader role of this team. It's understandable. There is Harden here who is the designated franchise player and Lin himself is probably very self conscious that he hasn't performed well enough to be looked as the leader. Also, the PG duty is shared by multiple players Harden Parsons and Delfino that Lin doesn't even get as much chance to shout the directions on the court. When Lin was with the Knicks, he was much more a leader whenever Carmelo was not on the court due to injury or rotation. He was very vocal to give directions to his teammates including Tyson Chandler and Amare (largely due to both stars don't have much egos). The other players either were his good friends, i.e. Fields, Novak or support him i.e. Shumpert, Jefferies, etc. Plus D'Antoni gave Lin full trust and played him as an all important PG, so Lin probably felt more comfortable assuming the leader role there. Although whenever Carmelo was back on the court, most of the time, he just ignored whatever Lin said to them. I don't see Lin as the main leader of this team unless his role on this team is significantly changed, i.e. the full time sole PG (very unlikely as long as Harden is here) and his performance is much improved and much more consistent. Having said that, Harden said in one of the interviews that Lin is leading by setting example on the court, by doing everything to help the team. If Harden is impressed by Lin's action on the court, who are we to say Lin is not one of the leader of this team?
Harden, Chandler, and Lin are the leaders. If we're choosing one, it's pretty obvious we go with Harden. It's not a pissing contest, it's just reality.
