The most recognizable player on the roster has NOTHING to do with him being a leader. Harden/Parsons are the only viable options here.
Even if Lin isn't the "leader" of this team, most people will think he is. Hence the poll results. They all have leadership qualities, so debating it to death is moot.
Greg Smith GS: Read more at http://hoopshype.com/interviews/bar...le-wants-me-to-be-a-beast#f3iPq2flkzV4MkOR.99 (before Harden was traded here) McHale also said Lin would be the Rockets’ leader — even though he is a 23-year-old point guard who has 25 starts in his career with the Knicks. Sampson (when Mchale left for Sasha) Lin said Harden told the AP, (by example? or verbally?) Parsons on Harden Kelvin Sampson: Harden should be a (silent) leader by example, and Lin should lead vocally as our floor general. He's smart and would know the right things to say, he just doesn't have the confidence and experience to do that consistently yet. He gets really pumped when he's doing well, and it rubs off on others. But a floor leader should be able to rally the troops even when he's having a bad day or isn't feeling so confident himself, instead of shutting down and sulking (something most the young guys do, which is why vets are needed).
This is hilarious.... Sideway shots at Lin and Harden by LOF's and posters sick of Lin being the topic of discussion 80% of the time.. The truth is many teams, if not most, do not have a single leader. MJ, Dream, Magic and Thomas are unusual cases... Look at the Spurs, they have multiple leaders... On the Rockets the developing leader is James Harden. He is by far the Rockets best player, has the most personal success, has been the farthest in the playoffs and everyone defers to him. Further he has an excellent work ethic, and I have seen him bark at Lin and Parsons when they deviate from their style of play. Morey and Delfino have praised his leadership qualities. Delfino said Harden always takes personal responsibility for his mistakes. Lin is too inconsistent to be the leader. At times he commands the team and they play off of him, but other times he just fades away. Parsons has some leadership qualities and is maturing, but he is not there yet. For all of McHale's flaws he is a good leader, as he wasn't hired for his X's and O's.
Here's an analogy for people who don't get it Carmelo Anthony is the Knicks' best player but he isn't a leader. He thinks he is, but the leader on that team is Tyson Chandler Harden is the best player by far but quiet. Parsons too.
For Denver...I believe it would be Andre Miller...the guy is a true vet and he shows it on the court and probably in the locker room
Harden's team so he is the leader unless he designates someone else. Voting for Lin is silly. He can't even finish games.
We need a vocal leader on the defensive end like KG. Hoping Asik or Dmo can take on that role since Parsons is usually on the wing.
I've never gotten involved in this whole Lin fans vs others stuff going around this board because well, they are all Rockets to me. But come on... Really? This poll is a joke.
The role is open for the taking... The person "pulling the all the strings" is DMtheGM. Hard to have / be a leader when the roster has turned over and over and over and..... Scola was the answer just a few short months ago. In time Harden SHOULD take on the role. But for now it is McHale with help from Parsons (the one thats been here the longest).
all three are leaders Lin - leader by example. shows sportsmanship, players how to act, what to say. ig: help kept beverley from making a fool of himselft against gs. calmed him down. Harden - Carries the team to victory. Leads the attack on the floor. Most consistent scorer so everyone will always depend on him. Parsons - White guy. Haven't you seen this before? Seriously, he seems to support all the guys on the team by picking them up or coming to their defense. The do it all guy.
Best player =/ (most suitable) Leader Tmac was the best player, imaging him being a leader, really? Or rather Shane being the leader, Yao is a bit quiet to be the leader. Harden no doubt the best player, but I just see more leader quality in Jeremy, work hard at both end, clutch, communication skill, etc..
