not really regardless im not a fan of ish at all...if ish somehow makes the final cut, there will be a lot of frustrations around here concerning his play. too many weaknesses as a player.
Clint Capella really ruined things. He's likely to get ZERO burn this whole season yet he forced himself to come over. He's going to take that extra roster spot. I hate it.
from his predraft interview, looked like he was all about getting that guaranteed $. let's hope he's not just another lazy thabeet all over again.
Covington, Dorsey, Mitchell, Powell will be cut. I think Black makes the team over someone in the shocker. Likely Canaan.
covington for sure now http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/235150/Rockets-Parting-With-Robert-Covington
I'm not sure if Dorsey is automatically on the chopping block. Morey seemed enamored with his stint in Europe calling him the best rebounder in the Euro league and a great defender…also signed him to the $2M contract…I think he stays.
You guys read too much into preseason. Powell Mitchell Covington (gone) Black Those four will be for sure cut. Black will be retained on the Vipers. I'm not sure about the last one. But I think it will be Ish.
You might be right but he is getting a loooonggg look from Mchale. Canaan's body language last night did not look good.
Good analysis here. Isaiah Canaan has been made expendable by the shrewd advanced stats-informed pickup ofIshmael Smith. This allows Houston to trade Canaan for a second round pick this month. Similarly, Donatas Motiejunas has been made expendable by the shrewd advanced stats-informed pickup of Jeff Adrien, the shrewd international scouting of Joey Dorsey, and the discovery of diamond in the rough Tarik Black. This allows Houston to trade Motiejunas for a second rounder this month, as well. I have believed from the start that Francisco Garcia and management had a wink-wink under-the-table deal wherein Garcia opts out so as to create more cap space, the team re-signs him after the dust settles to the same contract, and that he likely gets cut in October.
Oh, my fifteen man roster is broken down as follows: Starting lineup PG Patrick Beverley (32 minutes/game) SG James Harden (36 min/g) SF Trevor Ariza (32 min/g) PF Terrence Jones (32 min/g) C Dwight Howard (32 min/g) Key reserves Kostas Papanikolaou (32 min/g) Ishmael Smith (16 min/g) Jeff Adrien (16 min/g) Troy Daniels (12 min/g) End of the bench Joey Dorsey Tarik Black Francisco Garcia (barely makes the team, for now) Jason Terry Stashed in the developmental league Clint Capela Nick Johnson Traded for draft picks in October Donatas Motiejunas Isaiah Canaan Trade package which should haul in a Rajon Rondo or a Pail Millsap in February Terry + Capela + draft picks + possibly Johnson This team is better than most people think, and a Rondo or a Millsap makes this team a dark horse championship contender.
Why would we cut Black to put on the Vipers? Besides Howard, we dont have any rebounding bigs that want to rebound and do the dirty work.. Are you assuming Dorsey over Black? If he gets cut then I think he has to pass through waivers first before he can sign with Vipers. Someone could pick him up.
He goes through NBA waivers, but because the Rockets signed him to a partially guaranteed contract, it gives the Vipers his rights in the D-League.
Yeah it is, for a guy that seems to take no prisoners Morey budged with that guy. He might force us to cut Tariq Black!!
IMO final roster will look like this: dwight-dmo-black jones-adrien-capela (NBDL) ariza-papa-garcia harden-daniels-johnson (NBDL) beverley-terry-canaan easy to see why there was no room for covington. looks like no room for ish either. the last spot will be between dorsey and black.
I hope Ish doesn't get cut. I'd also like to keep Black, but needs to see Dorsey play before making that decision.
