It is a killer that Capella is on the roster this year. He won't do anything and is costing someone who is worthy a roster spot. If Dorsey didn't have a guaranteed contract it would be an easier cut. To me Adrien and Black have outplayed him. I dont know how much Cisco or Terry will play, but they will be on the roster. Ideally we would want Canaan to beat out Ish. But it doesnt look like it is happening in McHale's eyes and that makes things difficult.
LOL. It's not that hard, Morey just does this to cover up if we lose big with Ish Smith & Dorsey in the rotation who should've been cut. Black & Adrien need to stay!!
You know what will make it easier, quit cutting 1 (Powell) and signing another (G Johnson)........ Doing that will definitely make it harder to get to 15!
Really.... tougher than the year you had to tell your owner that the team is eating nearly 7 million in guaranteed salary of players you are waiving & had to let go of good players like Shaun Livingston for the sake of cap flexibility? Normally its a good problem when you don't know who to cut. This year unfortunately its partially due to poor or evenly poor play by everyone at certain positions. Can't say I agree that this years preseason cuts are due to anything extremely positive I've seen in the preseason other than the T. Black surprise which almost says more negative about Adrien and Dorsey than it does about Black.
A G R E E D Seriously. Does this look like a guy that is in danger of being cut? Should have been keeping and eye on Garcia this summer. Yes injured Garcia was crap last year. But this year's FIBA Garcia shows the guy is healthy again: Spoiler <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/hV6QymsdNFE" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Garcia's FIBA stats: 61% FG%, 64% 3PT%, 100% FT%, 18.2 EFF, 17.6 PPG Guy is 32 years old and healthy again, y'all. He is not getting cut.
Guaranteed $ next year. Its not a huge amount but it hurts them this Summer if they don't make a trade this year, and need to be active in free agency. It could be the difference of having to move or not having to move Papanikolaou or even Ariza to make a big signing. Morey really needs to find a way to roll Dorsey into a trade if possible. Not waive him.
LOL Cisco may wind up being the starting SF by playoff time. Screeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeech!!!
Dorsey has guaranteed money so i think we have to cut black i would love to sign him to dleague and try to sell dorsey before december
Yeah I'm gonna call BS on that one. More like it's so difficult figuring out who is good enough to make an NBA team rather than who isn't good enough for one.
I think Ish has already won the backup PG role because of his playmaking abilities. He has 6.3 ast to 2.4 tov per 36 in his career which replaces Lin's career 6.4/3.4 per 36. Ish is also a good defender. His DefRtg for 10 min per game(36 games) in ORL in 2012-13 was a team best 101.9 compared to a team avg of 106.7. His DefRtg for 9 min per game(16 games) in MIL was 2nd best 97.3 compared to a team avg of 102.3. Last year in PHO in 14 min per game(70 games) his DefRtg was 4th best 101.7 compared to a team avg of 103.8. We don't need him to score much since we traded for Terry and have Daniels to pickup the load. Hopefully DMo will be able to stay out of foul trouble and up his per minute scoring. I'm sure Morey would like to keep Canaan in the hopes that he develops into a better playmaker and defender, but we probably end up releasing him.
I feel for Maury. Of course it's tough. How do you distinguish from one certified scrub and another? So many scrubs that I'd just put them in a hat and pull them out one by one.
I laugh when I read that above. everything that he is able to do is because he is quick, super quick. The first two games I was thinking this kid is going off. The last few games not so much. Often is he too fast for his own good and has some crap passes. Kid is no different than Fitzpatrick..a journeyman doing..average player thrust into a key role on a team with contending hopes.
Nobody said he was going to be a star. You can't deny the stats although he only played about 1500 minutes combined the last two seasons. He's the best option we have at this point since we don't really have any good assets to trade for an upgrade. He's probably going to play < 15 minutes per game so he should be fine. The main thing is that he's a better defender than Canaan.
There has to be a trade brewing ladies and gents...finger's crossed. It just seemed a lot of preseason was an exhibition of Jones and DMo. So really I expect a PF via trade and either Jones or DMo being traded out.
