i know rudy t used to be a scout, before being promoted to assistant coach then head coach. however, i'd like to know who is in charge of scouting now? is there a definite "head" of scouting, or is it a collective effort from rudy, larry smith, and jim boylen?

have the rockets changed scouts recently? anybody know who has been scouting for the past 10 years???

    anyone?

all those guys you saw in the back room on draft day.

    no, they haven't changed much.

aside from Rudy and CD, Joe Ash, Brent Johnson and Mr Unknown.

there are others who they bring up, but Joe is the guy who really took over Rudy's responsibilities.

    I don't know...but they aren't that great.
    Oh God. Eddie Griffin?

They didn't even give request for him to have a workout.

They did do a right thing by drafting Yao Ming and not Jay William though. ;)

    And that is about drafting.

But scouting opposing players...they don't do a great job. Not when they leave all the players on the Supersonics wide open.

Sorry. Releasing my anger. No one uses tha smilie.

yes, Ash scouted for the Hornets and the championship 76ers before that.

note: there is a difference between an "advance scout" and a "talent scout."

    check your email.

also, i assume that the "advance scout" is more involved in scouting future opponents (offenses/defenses, etc.). the talent scout, i would guess, is traveling the globe looking at future prospects for the team.

    is this correct?

yeah, one type is an opponent scout, and the other is looking for players to add to the team. Ash is the latter. The Rockets call their advanced scouts "video coordinators/scouts." I don't understand why guys like Fegwu will diss them by calling them "video editor guys."

In college, they don't really strike a difference as scout and recruiter are the same thing, usually.

and you should check you email, too.
