Watching Dirk being almost unstoppable tonight got me thinking. Is there such a thing nowadays or do you just have to hope he misses more than usual?

McGrady did a good job that one year in the playoffs. I am thinking Anthony Davis with his length and mobility but he is still green.

Trading for him at this point is the best way.

^^ Time to bring that guy out of retirement. Consummate professional, and can lull you to sleep with his nonathletic ability.

If there were readily available Dirk Stoppers out there then Dirk wouldn't be Dirk. He's a future hall of famer and all time great PF because nobody has an answer for him in the league.

T-Mac. He actually stopped Dirk in 05' first round playoffs, perhaps Bowen? I remember he was assigned the task to slow down Dirk back in the days.

Honestly, there is no stopping him if he shoots like he did tonight. I would say today LeBron would be best defending him but even he would have problems.

guess we have to wait for father time

Dirk is old. You stop him with a scheme. You front him in the post first of all. You can't expect Terrence Jones and Omri Casspi to be effective behind him as he posts up. You use Terrence Jones' athleticism and front him in the post and make them throw it over the top where Dwight is.

Next on all those pick and pops you don't switch off the POINT GUARD on him and expect the point guard to defend him on the perimeter. You crowd him on the perimeter, fight through the screen and if he catches it high you body up on him and force him to put it on the floor.

Dirk is old and gimpy. He doesn't want to have to work hard to dribble drive around smaller, younger, quicker defenders. He wants to catch and shoot or catch and work with his back to the basket. If he catches high, you bring the D tight and make him put the ball on the floor, then simply attack his dribble from the blind side.

Our defensive scheme tonight was ridiculous.
