I had a craving for Blue Oyster Cult all week last week so struck up the conversation with quite a few people, some casual acquaintances (btw I spelled that correctly without using google, self high-five), and some friends. I was asking them about cheap Blue Oyster Cult options since I didn't want to spend too much and everyone's first response was "Blue Oyster Cult's great, but you know what's wrong with it" or "They got good prices but you know the kind of people go there" etc. They always stare at me with a cockeyed look when they say it (you know the look, it's something racist but they dont wanna come out and say it so they just give you that look...I can't describe it, I just know it when I see it). When they do eventually come out and say it, it's always referring to how they see so many white people at Blue Oyster Cult. Is this like a real phenomenon or something? I haven't stepped into a Blue Oyster Cult in like 2 decades so it has been a while. I've heard the jokes in the past but always thought it was done for effect by white comedians. However, with so many real world people saying the same thing, I'm wondering if this is a real thing, and if it is, why do white people like Blue Oyster Cult?
I thought the kind of people who go to BOC concerts were like me...didn't know we turned racists. sigh.
I challenge anybody to come up with another parody thread dealing with a pop culture reference that includes a color and seafood. Cannot be done.
I'm burnin' I'm burnin for some oysters. Only because we all know only white people like them. They played at Scout Bar 2 years ago, place was filled with honkies.
