The Texans aren't far away or bad... we're average. 4-4 despite having a not-good QB in a passing league and our #1 pick inactive most of the year. We just need a couple more upgrades at whatever position or a QB and we'd currently have 2 more wins with just that. Two more wins with all BS including... onside kick, the PIT blooper reel, Dez's catch, all of it.
Agreed. How our cap situation is to get those other players around Watt, Clowney, Foster, the OLine etc. is the question.
Anyone who can't see that the O line has been god awful when it comes to pass blocking this season should just stop watching football.
If their metrics say that the Texans O line has performed well in pass blocking, they need to fix them. Run blocking is a different story.
"The offensive line hasn't been quite as dominant as a few years back, but none of the starters has played poorly. None of them has been responsible for more than a single sack, and they have run blocked well." Their computers must have a virus.
Clearly. Either that or they aren't counting pressure and instead are relying on sacks given up. I don't know how they compile their metrics. If they are talking more about run blocking than pass blocking then that statement makes sense, otherwise it's just wrong. They've had several starters play poorly.
Then they were either primarily talking about run blocking or they were simply wrong. Anyone can go back and see how quickly the QB is under pressure almost every snap.
Fine, then they're simply wrong. I'm fine with them being wrong. Again, it just takes a quick look at how quickly the pressure is getting to the QB to prove that they are in fact playing poorly in pass blocking.
That's very big of you to accept other people being wrong. I think it requires more than "a quick look."
Here's the quote you provided: That makes it sound like they could each be responsible for 1 sack a piece. This is one of the few times I've come into the Texans forum and agree with bobbythegreat. I think they've been bad at pass protection. I've seen plays where 4 of the 5 lineman fail to block anyone.
Football Outsiders maybe doesn't give enough quick looks, because it ranks them 13th in pass protection.
Haven't we been over this? I'm fine with it if they are mistaken on this. The O line simply hasn't been good when it comes to pass blocking. All too often they let guys run free at the QB or pressure the QB within a second or two of the ball getting snapped and that's unacceptable. When you have a QB like Fitz, you have to protect him better if you want good things to happen.
