While the rockets shouldn't be praying that Harden leaves, they should be praying that he is no longer the #1 option. If the Rockets land durant that could be a step in the right direction, however the dominoes don't seem to be in place for this(Rockets coming off of a poor season, Thunder coming off of one of their best). The unfortunate fact is that the contract given to Harden inflated his ego, he sees himself as #1, even when this shouldn't be the case. His true value is somewhere inbetween his OKC and HOU days. Much better than a sixth man, worse than the #1 option. If he can find himself in a situation as #2 with a solid first option(Durant, Lebron, George, etc...) then he will be part of a championship contender.

Tyson Chandler was super skinny most of his career and only really filled out due to being over 30 but even then is still skinny. Not everyone has to be swole. A lot of skinny guys have that innate strength ala young Wilt or even Dike.

Dont forget that we will be spoon fed the '3 year process' prbeetty soon so that the next couple losing seasons leading up to Hardens departure will be spent finding players to fit this stystem. Fun times ahead.

I'd call Steve Nash and see if he's still interested to play.

I'd love to bring him in as an assistant..right now he has a small role with the Warriors so i don't even know if he has interest in a coaching career, but i know it won't take long for him to be Head Coach should he decide to pursue it.

Bazemore and Teague are big time fits. Splitter too.

I'd love Batum in this system! As far as "bigs" I'd like to get some combination of Horford, Taj Gibson, Ryan Anderson, Jeff Green (I know he's underachieved but think MDA's style fits his game). Would be in favor of getting Dudley and/or Marvin Williams to come off the bench. I think Mike Conmey would thrive but I don't know how realistic that is...

Cut ties with Smith, Jones, Goudelock and, should he express a desire not to resign, Jason Terry. I picture him going back to Dallas and retiring as a Mav anyway.

Corey Brewer needs to go. We will likely need to give up something to get rid of his contract, whether it be a pick or two.

Pick up Michael Beasley's team option - he is our sixth man scorer. He has his flaws but I believe if he could become a more willing passer, he'd be fantastic. He has the body to be a versatile defender, rebounder, and capable of scoring from anywhere. The Rockets should attempt to retain Motiejunas at a decent price. Detroit sabotaged his value, which is unfortunate for him but good for us. If he can get an off-season of rest and recovery, I'd hope he could come back to form. He can post-up or shoot threes, as well as provides some defensive footwork and passing in the paint. Rebounding is a major issue.

As far as free agents go: Forget Durant. He is not coming. I repeat, he is NOT coming. At midnight, the Rockets should be waiting at Mike Conley's door. To win in this league, you need at least two star perimeter players. Curry/Thompson, Westbrook/Durant, Irving/James, etc. If Harden is to be our Nash, then we need him beside a gritty defender who can also score and move the ball. I love Bev but he is essentially a 3&D player. Conley is an all-star caliber player who not only can match-up with the star guards of the league, but also slash and shoot reliably and create plays. Lawson had completely lost it, as we saw once he was with the Pacers - it is not because Harden cannot play with another ball-dominant guard.

For the second major FA target, I really believe the Rockets should go after Harrison Barnes. I would say Batum but he is almost assuredly going to resign with Charlotte. Barnes has been rendered a 4th or 5th option, but I still think he has the potential to be more. He's versatile both offensively and defensively, and given a larger role, he could bloom into a star. Gotta take risks at this point, plus it could hamper GS's cap situation.

    Conley/Beverley
    Harden/KJ
    Barnes/Ariza
    Motiejunas/Beasley
    Capela

It's a start, right? Risky sure. We'd have Capela taking the reins and throwing him into the fire, but I feel he's a cheap alternative that can block shots and crash boards while finishing lobs. If you wanted shooting from all positions, you could slide DMO to the five and insert Beas at the 4, or slide Barnes over and bring Ariza in. Barnes, Ariza, and to an extent, KJ (its about time we played the guy, he can't shoot worse then Brewer did) are plus defenders you can throw at opposing wings, while Conley and Bev can guard opposing guards. Harden would be the maestro and you'd hope he could take this team up a notch like Nash did with the Suns of a decade ago.

Rockets should go after Troy Daniels. Unfortunately, Lin's days in Houston ended when we had his "enemy" Melo in town wearing his uniform (while Lin was still on the team). Like him or not, that was a classless act that Morey did and we all will pay for with future attempts at free agents. Morey's pick (and it was Morey who pushed Les to make the hire) of Dantoni is not bad if we can view it as a three year rebuild/retool where we essentially have to bring in ten new players to surround Harden with.

We're going to have a whole roster overhaul, you can bet that. It'll be interesting.

Bazermore is going to be grossly overpaid. He's a good 3 & D player, nothing more. We have that in Ariza, I'd like 1 more in our rotation--no Brewer is not one--but those types are easy to find.

I'd like to see us maybe make a move for Jeff Teague, as our PG, and even sign Troy Daniels back here. I'm curious on how deep D'Antoni will go in our rotation.

For all the fuss I see about his lack of D principles or care, no one's talked about his high MPG he's put on his players. It's worse than Thibodeau. I'm hoping his last two stints have humbled him, and we acquire talent that lets him feel comfortable to go 9-10 deep. I'd really like to add a 9th and 10th guy in our rotation that are specialists/gunners.

I'm all on board with D'Antoni, if we get the pieces that fit and if he will listen to defensive recommendations.

We're going to be a completely new team-- no more iso Harden, no more HORRIBLE inbound plays. People say our offense wasn't so much of an issue, it was pathetic. As was our defense, but defense is a mix of effort, strategy, and physical build. We had 1 of the three(physical build), sure new personnel may take away from that one gift we had but we can totally be a top 10 D team with our personnel next year. And with that, and D'Antoni's offense, be a top 3-5 team offensively.

We've added the best offensive mind in the game.

If McDaniels spends this offseason working on absolutely nothing else but his 3pt shot, he'll shock us with his improvement next season under MDA.

First of all, dump Brewer, and re-sign D-Mo if it doesn't cost us more than 7M per season with a team option after year 2. Renounce everyone except Beasley and Goudelock, who are more than worth the minimum salaries they make.

We should throw the max at Horford and Conley. Whoever accepts (or if none accept it) work from there. Don't try for both, it's too much of a long shot.

I'd want Joakim Noah Lance Stephenson for sure. Don't wait for a big FA to lock these guys up. They are both undervalued at the moment and likely to fit really well on this team. We need their grit and their passing. Two way players, perfect role players whether starting or off the bench.

Depending on whether we get Horford or Conley or neither, I'm very interested in signing any of the following: Brandon Jennings, Mirza Teletovic, Arron Affalo, DJ Augustin, Ryan Anderson (ugh but circumstances), Sullinger, Courtney Lee, Jerebko (if Celtics exercise team option), Illyasova (if Magic exercise option), Eric Gordon, Mario Chalmers, Brandon Bass.

Funny thing is that Brewer is one of the best runners in the league and plays at a fast pace..he might actually be worth something in a D'Antoni 7 second offense with his energy and floor running on the break.

I've mentioned Bazemore as well. Would feast in an uptempo MDA offense. I also like Batum's versatility. Both are UFAs.

If the Rockets stole Baze, wonder if Hawks would trade Teague for Ariza?
