I particularly miss Oeilpere posts. Not the inside info, but his opinions were always sound, and his posts on the team, enjoyable to read.

However, I'm sure that if he showed up with anything not insider related he would be hammered with questions...

I hope that at least shows up under a different username. I probably would recognize his style instantly, and respect his decision too.

Didn't Doc Rocket say that he was going on vacation all summer? Perhaps that is why he isn't posting. Also, isn't Clutch moving to a new home? Perhaps he is more pre-ocupied with "real life" at the moment to post information and such.

Thats not what I'm suggesting at all. I am suggesting that there is nothing to report. Lacking anything to report, whats the point of showing up here to have "you owe us info" posters hammering them with why and why not questions?

As far as your "the site has not been updated on a regular basis for years" statement, there isn't a big enough  to put on here.

So you're saying the site has been updated as frequently the past 2 or 3 years as it was between 96' and 00'? If so, I've got to believe you weren't around back then. Clutch used to have articles/opinions posted daily, 2 or 3 of them. Now days, he has a game recap and that's about it.

I am of the opinion that if you aren't paying a dime for something, you have no right to complain. What exactly is he supposed to post on the site? "Van Gundy at Astros Game!!!" or "Rudy seen eating at La Strada!!!!"

Give it a rest, it is the off season. There have been no trades involving the Rockets, there have been no signings.

But if you must complain just to complain, go right ahead.

I don't think that the two positions here are mutually exclusive. You can argue both that Clutch et al (I think admitedly) have less time to devote to the superficial aspect of this site, at least in part because the other aspects, technical and so forth, take a greater amount of time, and at the same time you can say that we are lucky to have this site at all, and owe Clutch and all those who devote thoer time to allowing us to have this site a fairly regular 'much appreciated'.

Also I think that Clutch has been pretty open about his family and work commitments coming first, as they should, and with the move and so forth he just doesn't have the same time right now as usual, or previous.

I'm only asking the question because, with all the childish behavior that goes on here now, I only pop in to see if one of the insiders has thrown us a bone. Well, that & to post an occasional trade that'll, 99.99999% of the time, never happen. :D

you're right on about the scarcity of acid in this region of the country; it's practically non-existant.

and i wouldn't be surprised if the abscence of insiders had to do with the regime change. but, then again, i wouldn't be surprised if it didn't (insightful, eh?).

There is also another real possiblity.

In most NBA organizations, "insider" news tends to filter out from the assistant coaches, trainers and people of that nature. Generally, the personnel people don't talk about stuff but the underlings do.

With the complete turnover in coaching staff, there is the very real possibility that some of the pipeline of information was destroyed and may take time to rebuild.

If you knew an assistant or some video guy and he's now in another city, it stands to reason that it might take time to find another source. Even people within the organization have to build new relationships making the flow of information much slower.

Add to that the fact that we are in the middle of the summer when news is ALWAYS at its slowest AND the fact that Clutch is ridiculously busy in his personal life - our primary source of legitimate inside info - and you have the makings of a slow news time.

This has very little to do with conspiracy and probably a lot to do with the changing of the guard the Rockets have experienced mixed with the typical slow movement of NBA news in the summer months.

    Jeff,

I'll agree that new staff may be a big part of the "sources of info" drying up, but honestly, it is a lot harder to get a quality thread going than it used to be and the ones that are good digress quickly and are diluted into oblivion. It just ain't the same BBS post Yao...

The big name posters are just bored with the exchange I would say...

would it be possible to delete all of the "trade" threads? or make it a rule not to post trades that you came up with that have no chance of ever happening.

we can make it ok to post ideas like "we should trade moT and rice for a banger PF" just no more of this "TRADE ACCEPTED" crap.

    anybody with me?

    I feel your pain, but...

What makes this bbs such a kick ass site IMO is that everyone is free to express themselves. Like it or not, some people just get off on talking hypothetical trades.

I get just as annoyed by the silly trade threads as the next guy but I don't think they should be deleted....just piled on. :D

There is nothing more annoying than guys like you that think they know it all.

This happens every year at this time. I for one do not appreciate your comments. Name the last time you added something credible. Better yet. Name one time. I guess this crap you posted (twice) is worth coming back for. The so-called big name posters definitely come back to read your insightful comments.

There's no doubt that our 'insiders' were within the Rockets organization somewhere, their information was clearly from first hand knowledge. Therefore its likely they are displaced or just gone. It will be interesting if they resurface and how accurate their information will be.

Its been 15 years?? since we've had a clean sweep of the Rockets staff like this. Last coach was Rudy who was promoted from within the ranks.

I'll bet some new 'accurate' insiders appear later in the year. We'll just have to keep tabs on the outcome of their predictions.

    Bigboy...

I'm not trying to be elitist, it's just an observation I had and I have heard the same from several people I know who used to be regulars but chose not to be anymore. Myself, this dilution isn't so much of a problem, I actually get annoyed at the elitist attitude of the "non newbies" as well. If you were to look back at my posts, I think you would find they are not trivial unless they are just meant in to be light and fun.

    And on that note:

This ain't rocket science.... oh, wait, yea it is! :p

Why don't you read the whole conversation before you make an assholic response like the one you made above. That's exactly what I said when the conversation began (that as long as it's a free site, it's their business how they run it).

Yeah like saying we wouldn't draft Yao and that he wasn't very good.
