If you need help finding Dream vs Shaq, you should close your forum account. He ran circles around someone on the list, and with his skill set, it's very logical to assume he'd do the same for the others. I don't see anyone on the list that could guard him (imo).

Hakeem didn't really dominate him, but he did outplay him for the series. Shaq did play quite well in the series stat-wise of course, in terms of winning. Yeah, Hakeem owned him. But In terms of looking at stats and looking at the performances. I wouldn't say Hakeem dominated him.

Hakeem or Jabbar. I think Wilt and Russell are overrated, weak-ass era vs. lame opponents and Shaq ain't better then Olajuwon, íf Hakeem had the help Shaq had during his titleruns then Hakeem would have had just as many titles or more and Hakeem is a much better defender. Jabbar and Hakeem is a very close one, I would still give the edge to Olajuwon though. Hakeem was a better defender and sure, Jabbar won more, both personal accolades and teamwise but the more you win the more attention you get. And if you play with 2 prime HOF:ers at the same time you're supposed to win...

If Hakeem could win without all-stars on the team TWICE then I would have loved to see him win with the best PG ever and one of the best SF's ever and he would have won too...

I think Olajuwon is damn underrated and it's a shame Sampson broke down and all those darn bad things happened to the mid-80's Rockets, Hakeem played with scrubs most part of his prime and then people come up with bs like "Hakeem was only good for 2 years" and "If he's so good, why didn't he win more"... Good luck winning with the likes of Buck Johnson among the starters...

Sorry, not trying to pick on you. I guess we Rocket fans can be very territorial.

as far as offense goes, Kareem and Wilt are on the same level as Hakeem.

    Defensively, only Russell compares.

    Longevity wise? Kareem of course.

so overall Hakeem would be the best in my opinion.

Yao would destroy them all. ;)

    1. Wilt.
    2. Hakeem, Russell, Kareem (3-way tie)
    3. Everyone else.

You clearly have no idea who Wilt Chamberlain is...

...so, in your world, Hakeem's offense = Wilt's offense?

Do they have peanut butter on your world? You should import some from Earth. It's yummy.

Sure I do. He was that physically dominant man (sort of resembled a dark Mark Eaton) that played in a really (by today's comparison) weak era and dominated a bunch of pencil-pushing accountant types in tight shorts.

I also understand he was popular with the ladies but in my opinion...

    Leon Phelps > The Stilt

    Have fun googling kid ;)

I think it's more interesting to get the opinion of people outside of Houston on where Hakeem ranked.

Polling Clutchfans really tells you nothing about how he's perceived compared to the other great centers. Most who don't consider him a top 3 center probably won't even bother answering the poll question out of respect.

ESPN.com polled a bunch of sports writers and analysts on the greatest centers ever a few years back -- 20 total.

    http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/dailydime?page=dailydime-GreatestCenters

    Here's where they ranked him:

    Code:
              Number of votes
    1st 0
    2nd 1
    3rd 2
    4th 7
    5th 7
    6th 2
    7th 1
    8th 0
    9th 0
    10th 0

That's probably a better representation of what people familiar with topic around the country think of Hakeem then whatever results you'll get in this thread poll. 4th or 5th looks like the popular choice.

And if you're wondering, here were the voters:

    Henry Abbott, TrueHoop.com (HA)
    Greg Anthony, NBA analyst (GA)
Andrew Ayres, ESPN.com NBA editor (AA)
    Jon Barry, NBA analyst (JB)
Chris Broussard, ESPN The Magazine (CB)
Ric Bucher, ESPN The Magazine (RB)
    John Hollinger, ESPN.com Insider (JH)
Scoop Jackson, ESPN.com Page 2 columnist (SJ)
    Tim Legler, NBA analyst (TL)
    Jamal Mashburn, NBA analyst (JM)
    Jim O'Brien, ESPN.com Insider (JO)
Chris Ramsay, ESPN.com NBA editor (CR)
    Jack Ramsay, NBA analyst (JR)
    Chris Sheridan, ESPN.com Insider (CS)
    Ken Shouler, ESPN.com (KS)
Marc Stein, ESPN.com senior writer (MS)
    David Thorpe, Scouts Inc. (DT)
    Kiki Vandeweghe, NBA analyst (KV)
Royce Webb, ESPN.com NBA editor (RW)
    Jeff Weltman, Scouts Inc. (JW)

I have him at #3 - I don't think we'll see a center approach KAJ or Wilt's level of dominance... ever. Hakeem wasn't even on their level.
