Cyber said Utah has interest - but I am sure there are several teams willing to take a short term gamble on him, if he goes to the Spurs I am gonna be pissed. So, where does DMo go? Where can he prove his health and get substantial playing time? DD
I can see him going back to Europe too, especially if those back issues make it so he never gets the contract he would like.
If I was advising D-Mo I'd say UFA in January isn't where you are going to make your career free agent pay day. This Summer should be his focus. So how does he maximize his earnings this Summer....? Get on a contending team on a one-year deal (hopefully MLE type of signing) and make sure its a situation where he's going to play on a national stage in the playoffs. THAT is how you prove yourself healthy, talented, and worthy of a multi-year payday. I'd like to see what teams have the MLE left to offer, and what the MLE would be in their situations (taxpayer, etc). As far as teams with cap space... only teams I see that would be palatable would be OKC, Indiana, and of course Utah. My guess is BJ tries to get D-Mo his "career contract" now (dumb move IMO unless he really is damaged goods), and signs a deal with Utah. But if he really is healthy I suggest taking a cut this year to sign with a contender that needs big help, and get your name out there and play on a big stage to cash out this Summer.
Jazz if he's looking for more money, Spurs/Warriors if he's looking to win. Spurs and Jazz seem both perfect fits for him.
He needs to go to a TEAM oriented organization, where his passing and post ups can be exploited and he can put up some numbers. Honestly, if he went to GS, he could start at Center. DD
I think he saw his best deal already Have to look at the teams that have space. Otherwise, everything else will be some kind of wink wink deal Rocket River
The real answer should be Who cares!!!! I loved dmo when he was healthy playing for us but he wasn't that guy last year. To keep it short, he sucked. He's not helping any team he goes too. The rockets could have used him this year he was on as team friendly of a contract as there has ever been and we still declined and got out of it. The guy is done his back is that messed up. The back is nothing to play around with. If I was dmo I'd try and get one big payday and if I counldnt I would hang it up and try and coach.
I'm guessing he signs with brooklyn (if the league allows it) or Utah for LESS than 6 million this year and a team option or two following. I wouldn't be surprise, if he gets signed for the vet minimum.
Depends on his real health situation. I can see Grizzlies signing him to multi-year contract if he's 100%
