That's why I also listed his defensive ranking(from synergy sports) this season, and it's a lot worse than last season. Morey also mentioned his lack of help defense in the recent rocketscast live, but Asik seems to get the message and performed better in last few games.
Jeremy Lin played center against Nate Robinson. I'd say Lin was at least top as center in that game.
Dwight Bynum Noah Chandler Gasol That's at least 5 right there. I would say Asik is TOP 10. He's good at rebounds, he's got good D, but he needs to learn how to finish at the rim. His only offensive weapon is his reverse layups.
Except Bynum can't stay healthy, Gasol is averaging only 14 and 8 with worse defense than Asik, and with Noah you're basically just trading a couple rebounds for a couple points so it's essentially a wash. I really do think Asik has already forced his way into the top 5. His improvement has just come so quickly that people haven't adapted yet, and it just sounds weird to say, but in a year or two when people are used to the idea, nobody will doubt that he's a top 5 center.
Noah hasn't been able to do his thing against Asik though in our 2 head to head games. So I'll say that Asik is better than Noah matched up against each other.
Again, using h2h matchups to determine the worthiness of a player is about the stupidest thing you can do. And if that's not what you're getting at, then what's the point of your post?
Asik is definitely top 15, maybe top 10. If he had an offensive game beyond lay-ups that would help a lot.
Wut? Asik has WAY lower offensive capability than the other 2. Just look at this Knicks highlights video and how much of a beast Chandler is under the board http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=Si9pxvv3FiQ#!
On the defensive end only I think Omer is top 5. Overall he is top 10 with an insane amount of potential to be even better.
