Reality Contest Shows = Sports For Women. Not going away Glee, thats at least a show that has singing in it. Like regular ol' musicals. Not a singing competition with judges. (No, I don't watch either but ) I don't have a big issue with musicals or scripted shows with singing bits in them. Not much issue with singing contests either. For me I guess, in Rockets terms, in a contest the people are like revolving door "assets", and a tv show cast with script has "continuity". I prefer the 2nd. (And Glee has Kevin McHale to add to the weird analogy lols)
I never watched any of them. Between work, watching basketball, class, girlfriend, going out, and house chores, I have no time left.
I have never watched a single episode of any of those. As a matter of fact, the only one I had ever even heard of was American Idol.
Maybe, if there are too many shows, it will dilute the market and lower ratings across the board resulting in mass cancellations.
I have never watched any of them every. I might watch American Idol the night Aerosmith debuts their new song on there though.
Well, Star Search was on for 12 seasons. Cop drama. Lawyer drama. Doctor drama. Crime Scene drama. Talent show. It's all the same old American crap TV.
It's good family entertainment, and who are we to s**t on people who have a dream and risk the humilation of a reality show to achieve it.
At least those other genres allow us to see blood and talk about boobies every once in a while, at least until the FCC makes 10/9 Central a real "safe harbor." unaffiliated UHF channels should be cursing by 7 pm and showing full-blown p*rn after 9, everyone else after midnight.
Star Search was the filler between What A Country and Out of this World, or if they lost the tape for Three O' Clock High or Up the Creek: they didn't crap all over million-dollar prime time ad space.
True, but let's face it. American Idol is just Star Search crap recycled, re-branded, and re-marketed to America.... and America eats it up.
