With a win tomorrow against Portland, the Rockets will move to 14 games over .500. When was the last time the Rockets were 14 games over .500 in a season?
At the most, the Rockets were last 14 or more games over .500 on the last day of the 1996-97 season, when the Rockets were 57-25. The Rockets did go 31-19 in 1998-99, so there is a slight chance they were 14 games over .500 in that year. I did a quick Google search for Schedule Results for that year, but came up empty. Anyway, this could be the first time in almost 8 years that the Rockets move 14 games over .500.
Yep. Does anyone know how to find Schedule/Results for the '98-'99 season to see if the Rockets ever got 14 games over .500?
Nevermind. http://www.basketballreference.com/teams/teamscores.htm?tm=HOU&yr=1998&lg=n Turns out that since the end of the 1996-97 season, the Rockets have been 13 games over .500 four times before now, 3 in '99, once last year. All 4 previous times they lost the next game. Weird.
Maybe to show others who are interested like me? Cheez, people get iritated over the smallest things.
You just mentioned they went 31-19. If my math is correct, that is all 50 games, and only 12 games over .500
I remember during that season, The Rox started out 22-9 before slumping and losing to the Lakers in the 1st round.
I guess I should have just waited for the ESPN recap of the game: http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/recap?gameId=250316010 "The Rockets are 14 games over .500 for the first time since the 1996-97 season. "
