We have a duty to stand-up to the rising fascist movement on the right that seeks to undermine our democracy and put in place a xenophobic authoritarian regime that will herd blacks into ghettos, depots legal latino citizens, and stop brown people from immigrating into this country. All minorities are facing a dangerous time in this country as the right cares not about justice or who gets killed to achieve their aims of white power. There's a reason white supremacist groups are on the rise and celebrating Trump as the harbinger of finally putting an end to this melting pot idea. This is fundamentally about race as the Republican party has been since Nixon's southern strategy. Putin has artfully taken advantage of the inertial hate for foreigners in the west to stoke a irreconcilable divide in our society. Lighting the race powder keg. The anger isn't about liberal policy vs conservative policy - it's about race. It's about stopping black people from having power through voter id laws. It's about stopping immigration legal or illegal, it's about demonizing Asians It's about celebrating white culture and waving dixie flags. All minorities need to realize that this is a call to arms. We should prepare because when you have a maniacal narcissistic wanna be despot as the POTUS, anything is possible.

The point isn't which congressman was spit on, but that right-wing groups in uncivil protests spit on congressmen. They were uncivil towards John Lewis as well even if the spit didn't land on him though it might have. The story is not debunked.

The video shows someone being getting spat upon. The point of this whole thread was uncivil mobs. I brought out the John Lewis incident as an example. The fact that it was another congressman that was intentionally spat upon doesn't make the mob more civil. Again John Lewis may have also been spat upon, but it may not have been captured on video.

No, I'm not. The spit would not be big enough to be seen on camera. If it he was hawking a loogie then it would be big enough. If he was simply spitting, it wouldn't be. You see the man make a motion with his mouth and Cleaver reacting. You see it once which gets Cleaver's attention, and then you see it when Cleaver confronts the spitter.
