If we win game 7, it will definitely be top 3. If we lose, then it will be great but not as lasting since it wasn't part of something greater. Think if the Kiss of death had been followed up by a 4-1 loss in WCF to the Spurs. Would it have been as special as part of a championship run?
Game 5 1st round series vs the Jazz in 95. The Jazz were the 3 seed, and everyone's darkhorse to win the WC. That game was the springboard to propel us to title #2. Plus that was when Utah was the toughest place to play. If the Rockets continue on their run the season then this game will go higher up on the list.
And the Rockets didn't just come back and squeak by the at the last second; they went from being down 19 with 14:16 remaining to practically blowing them out. It was a 27 point swing in the span of just 7:30 before Paul hit the three right at the end.
Tough vote but 1995 Finals Game 1 edges out last night (yes even over the Suns playoff series) That Game 1 comeback vs the Magic set the tone for the whole series and virtually killed any momentum Orlando. They never mentally recovered from that. Last night was an epic comeback, unlike everything else we've ever seen. It has a different stigma because it was an elimination game, down 19 on the road in the second half. Any Rockets or NBA fan usually knows how this story plays out. It felt like it was over, like we unraveled, just like Games 3 & 4 ...it felt like our season was over. None of the other memorable comebacks in Rockets history will have these sheer feelings desperation, followed by pure, unbridled jubilation attached. We were on the brink ...and waking up this morning, I'm still pinching myself hoping it wasn't a dream. Last night was one of those moments we'll all remember for a long time. Because any time in the future we ever unfortunately find ourselves in the same desperate circumstances in an elimination game, someone will mention or post about this game, trying to keep hope alive. Last did exactly that.
