I also didn't care for Fargo much or True Grit. Everything else-I LOVE. Still haven't watched Millers Crossing though.

Can give some examples of movies you found funny? Maybe that will help me understand where you're coming from.
Silly movie...usually the oddball type lines just make me do this... Not saying its a bad movie...but it's nowhere near the hype it receives. I'd rather not watch it if it is playing on tv. I can find better ways to spend my time.
The Ashes bit, when I saw it the first time, was so funny. Overall I thought the movie was unique, and the lead character was interesting and believable, and well acted. The plot got a little strange at points. Would I call it one of the funniest movies I've ever seen. Can't do it.
It's in my top 5 of all-time, I can get people not liking The Big Lebowski. I don't like Fargo as much, but I don't get people not liking that movie.
I just don't see what the big deal is about Shakespeare, it's way over hyped. Sure it's beloved by millions over a hundred years but I think it's crap. By the way kids, Blazing Saddles is getting so old (1974) some of you Mellineals may have never seen it. If you like some of the gutbusters in this thread be sure to go back and watch it, it's an All Time-er.
It's a grower, and you have to have a refined palette to fully appreciate it the first time. Watch it again at some point and pay attention to the ridiculous dialog and the lampooning of Hollywood lifestyle. It is brilliant.
