The Disable player exception is worth the MLE, so i say we give Yao the MLE, if he goes down, we get to spend the same ammount in his replacement.
the dude has made millions off the Rockets. It's quite obvious he can't stay healthy as well. Don't let the door hit you on the way out!
I would give him 1M for first year, then see what will happen. If it does not work out, just move on. If he can still play, then you pay him more later.
If we are over the cap, I don't care how much Les is willing to pay him as long as its only 1 year guaranteed with an option for additional years.
Are we remotely having a chance at championship in the next few years?-No That's why gambles like Thabeet, Yao... should be taken, let alone if the price is cheap.
Give Yao a 1 year deal after you make ALL of your offseason moves for whatever you have left over from the CBA's new cap figure. Maintain your flexibility for the 2012 free agent class & keep making whatever money you're making for having Yao on the squad.
By giving Yao a one year max deal with and option on the second, it allows us to use him as an expiring deal in a trade. Right not we don't have any filler contracts. If a star becomes available, its going to require Martin or Scola be in on the deal.
So you guys dont want DeAndre Jordan? Even 2 million for Yao is 2 million less we can offer Jordan this summer. Morey wont pay Yao 2 mil, thats disrespectful, I fully expect mle 5-6 mil for yao. They could renounce the rights to thabeet, let yao walk , and sign DJordan. But what do I know? All I know is deandre > yao+miller+thabeet
Not sure if serious . . . It would probably require one of them anyways. Teams don't give up stars for nothing. Signing Yao to a bad contract isn't going to help anything.
I'm being very serious. If a deal like the Melo comes up, we don't have the contracts to match the incoming contract unless we give up Martin or Scola. You need expiring contracts to make mega deals work because most teams in that situation want young cheap player without having to take on long term contracts.
dude the Rockets have made millions off of Yao, not the other way around. Why dont you let the door hit you on your way out.
MLE for 3 years with a team option after the first year. If he gets injured again we don't pick up the option.
Then you would trade for expirings or sign someone else. You don't overpay someone just because you need an expiring. That's silly.
1-2 is what I would comfortable be with. 3 max And this is mainly so he doesn't go to some other team and miraculously survive a whole season. I would be ok with just moving on though.
Anyway, I just don't want to see Yao injured himself badly. It's so hard for him and so sad for us. Just retire his number and stick him with this organization It would be just enough
