If that's all you were saying that's what you should have said. Instead of blaming the GM for things completelymornof control and pretending like he doesn't to sign other stars. Which he clearly does.

My thong is neon pink, thank you!

there hasn't been a team like the warriors....ever.

they have arguably 4 major stars, and pretty good role players. its just too much for any team that doesnt have lebron, irving, and love on. you would need to add too major stars to the rockets and they still would not match gs talent.

It takes the status of Rockets to be the 'it' team and not play in any fixed games where the Rox are destined to lose. That's what it would really take.

Lol. I'll re-quote it for you, step by step

you started by blaming Morey for being scared to spend above the salary cap. Which makes no sense. Morey isn't in charge of the budget. Les ultimately makes the spending decision. Beyond that there's also a CEO (Thad Brown), and a CFO and various other organizational personnel. Morey is obviously involved in roster formation and how much the team can spend and recommending when it might make sense to spend more or less than the cap. but the idea that DM is too timid to spend above the salary cap is laughable. When they have a championship roster and will need to go over the cap to re-sign their own guys, they will.

so, yes, you were blaming the GM for things out of his control.

Paul George isn't even a free agent this summer.

Even if he was, both he and Blake will command max or near max contracts. The Rockets salary cap is such that they can't offer a max or near max contract at the moment. To do so they'd have to jettison Ryan Anderson for $0 in return, or some 2 of the 3 of Ariza/Gordon/Williams for $0 in return.

They can not go over the cap to sign a free agent that isn't theirs. It doesn't matter what DM wants to do, they just can't.

Dekker, Harrell, picks this year (which are 2 second round picks in the late 40's as they've already given up their 1st rounder to the Lakers for Lou Williams) and the rights to Llull aren't getting you cap space required to sign a max free agent. They aren't getting you Paul George in a trade. Why would the Pacers do that deal?

The most you can hope for is a sign and trade for Blake Griffin, where the Clippers for whatever reason might want back a package that includes Ryan Anderson and/or Trevor Ariza.

Making things "complicated" is what makes it possible to do these types of deals. The Rockets don't have the cap space to pursue the top tier free agents. If they want to sign one, DM will ahve to get creative.

Basically your whole post came off as "Morey sucks, he hasn't signed Durant, or Lebron... because he's scared too or makes things so complicated that he can't!" ... which is nonsense.

If you want to put roster blame on Morey, by all means, go for it. Cause while on the one hand he's added Harden, Dwight, Ariza, Anderson, Gordon, Williams, Bev and found in the draft Capela, Dekker, Harrel and others... on the other hand we still have a roster that talent wise is clearly below the top tier.

The reality is to be in that top tier you have to have a generational player - which it isn't clear that Harden is quite yet - surrounded by at least 1 other all star and plenty of near all-star two way players. The Warriors didn't just sign KD, ho hum. They drafted Curry, Klay, Dray... and got "complicated" to add Iguodala. The Cavs didn't just sign Lebron. They had drafts picks #1, #4, #4, #1, #1 - three #1 overall picks and three #4 picks over a 4 year span... which they turned into Kyrie and Kevin Love.

The reason these teams are able to go over the cap to keep these super teams together is because as young drafted players, they're contracts are artificially lower. The Warriors benefited doubly and triply because (i) Curry resigned his last deal when he was very good but before he blew up, and (ii) then because the NBAPA refused to allow salary cap increase smoothing over 3-4 years but instead insisted on one big jump year, the Warriors were then in a place where they had to just jettison one large expiring deal (Bogut) to have enough room to sign KD... which they were able to do by trading him to the Mavs. It'd be neat if the Rockets could do something similar with Anderson... but Ryan has 3 more years left at $19+ a year.

I guess you can blame Morey for signing him to that deal in the first place.

I swear, people don't realize this. Curry and Durant are both going to be inner circle Hall of Famers, Klay is going to be a hall of famer and Draymond Green is going to be a hall of famer, just outside the inner circle. They they have players who would be our third best player coming off their bench!

Well, to be fair, our second best player might come off our bench, lol.

But absolutely. This Warriors roster is pretty unique. That said, there have been close rosters. 80's Celtics and Lakers. And the 72 win Bulls team with MJ, Pippen, Kukoc and Rodman.

But this Warriors team definitely seems more stacked then them all.

MJ obviously the best of all, but Curry & Durant are both significantly better, or at least more impactful in this era, than Pippen. Draymond Green is basically Pippen and Klay is Reggie Miller with better defense. It's crazy honestly.

It would be like if MJ had played with Pippen, Reggie Miller and Larry Bird.
