It says more about Crennel than anything. Watt and Clowney are commanding so much attention, yet nobody else is even sniffing the QB. Crennel has to come up with something to change that - that's what made our defense good last year, pressure that led to turnovers.
The idea that the Texans have an elite defense is just a myth. They got a ton of turn overs at opportune times last year, partially skill, but partially luck of the bounce. They still gave up a bunch of yards. Bad secondary that gets burned on big plays on a regular basis. Demps signed off the street and becomes an instant starter. Lack of depth due to poor drafting hits again. Wilfork is an average starter at this point. Maybe another coach would have better results, but the talent is way over exaggerated for the team.
We all overrated this defense because of the names on paper. Wilfork - no impact whatsoever Crick - has done nothing but always gets a free pass from fans Watt - not much he can do getting double teamed every play Clowney - getting better but still not 100% Cushing - living off of his past reputation Mercilus- more like Sackiless (as usual) I'm not even going to go on. The word is out on how to play Houston's defense. Just double-team Watt and you can do whatever you want. Run it right up the gut because your o-line should be able to corkscrew any one of our front 7 right into the turf and the secondary damn sure isn't going to anything about it.
i said it from the get go this defense was overrated. Not because ability but because they could definitely be top defense but because there is no passion. They cant be expected to produce the offense to win games because our Gm cant go out and get a good O line and QB.
That in one sentence could be the entire explanation on why the Texans have struggled this year. Not Rick Smith's drafting ability. Not OBie's coaching ability. Turnovers.
3 -4 Defense I think it requires GOOD LINE BACKERS When you have a 5 man line .. . you double team 2 od the 3 and the other one doesn't seem to get any push . . . . it is up to the linebackers to DO SOMETHING and they are not . . . . . Rocket River
man....just watched the game on ff'd from start to finish...Look at the runs they had against us...NO one on the line was shedding blocks...Cushing, and Co. have been absymal...AND then STUPID penalties...at HOME. Watt has been mortal this year. Yea you can say the consistent double team has really slowed him...but that means linebackers should be having free shots up the gaps at running backs and the QB... Some of the calls last night were terrible...Kareem's PI was the worst, thought Clowney's call was a terrible call, the Pleasant "HOLD" was also a iffy call...what the heck was Hopkins doing throwing a football at that db...

Well, I wouldn't call what you do "talking football." More like talking out of your bunghole? Now we have to hear about how RAC is the main problem a billion times a day. Just another hot take that is embarrassingly wrong
Well Braddock was saying that he was banged up and was predicting that he'd go on IR if the Texans lost. Time to see if he really was basing that on something he read in a fortune cookie or not.
FINALLY! Someone who sees what I see! If both Clowney & Watt are getting so much attention, then why aren't the linebackers making more plays? Answer that question and you go a long way toward figuring out how to right this ship.
It's scheme. Even bad players should be able to make plays given all of the resources thrown at Watt and Clowney. The fact that the scheme hasn't put the guys in a position to pressure the QB or make plays shows that RAC is a big part of the problem.
They weren't this bad last year.... with a similar scheme, and now more talent up front. Its truly the loss of Mohammed and regression across the board from the LB's at this point.
