Glad to see Purvis Short mentioned on the list. Wow, what an unbelievable shooter he was. I remember Gene Petersen describing his high arching 15 foot jumper on the radio. It seemed that he never missed.

    Apparently not enough.

I didn't start watching the Rockets until around 1979. Back when Calvin and Rudy played.

Nobody remember Mike Dunleavy, the Chicken Man?

The oldest I can remember are Calvin, Rudy, and Rick Barry.

Rudy T had a great 15 to 20 ft. bank shot. It was amazing watching Calvin stand flat footed under the basket during warmups, and dunk the ball 2 handed. This was at hofeinz pavilion, waay before the summit was built. I saw Pete Maravich there, also Lew Alcindor, that was his name at the time, Oscar Robertson, the big E. Those were the days.

I first starting watching the rockets seriously when Moses took them to the finals in 81. I didn't watch in 82 and 83 because they totally sucked and I was pissed they didn't draft Drexler. I watch the Coogs instead and started becoming a die hard fan when Dream was drafted. I've been addicted every since. I remember almost crying when Wiggin and Sweet Lew got banned for coke. Lew was my favorite player with that silly looking two handed jumper. He could also take it to the rack. I was always pissed at mccray because he had no arch on the ball and would brick shots because of it and the fact we took him instead of glide. I hated Allen Leavell because he played more out controll that Steve Francis. That 86 team would have been a dynasty if not for the drugs and Sampson getting hurt.

Mike Dunleavy was the best. He had an around the back layup in the championship series with the Celtics that has to be one of the greatest single baskets in team history. (How's that for a Big Red superlative). Does anyone have video of that shot?
