He could of gotten Marc Gasol in the 07 draft, instead he drafted Landry which isn't bad buy Marc would of helped us more becoming the center of the future.
At the time you created that post to the time Yao released the details of his surgery was slim at best. Not calling you a liar or anything but I think it's safe to say that there was no legs to a Yao Ming trade rumor in the summer of 09. I would face palm myself if it ever was a possibility but without a source it's hard to believe.
Again, remember the time frame. At that point in NBA history that trade can be compared to Trading Paul George for Nicholas Batum for a team who is poised to compete. Rudy Gay was a rookie project and Battier was a solid wing who put up a lot better offensive stats with Memphis and was a defensive wing. If only trades could expire and you could trade back five seasons later.
Rudy Gay is making max dollars and has never sniffed the playoffs or even had a winning season. Didnt want him then, don't want him now.
But??? Since your asking.. -Rudy Gay -Amare Stoudemire -Trading Yao -Trading Tmac while he still had value -Battier when he had more value -Courtney Lee is not the equal to Trevor Ariza in no alternate universe -Should have just kept Artest is you traded Ariza -If you arent keeping Artest? Why give away Donte Green? -Marc Gasol drafted instead of Landry -Landry kept instead of Kevin Martin -1st rounder for a guy who wont ever play in Terrence Williams???? That ones also starting to look bad. -Why not draft a center if Patterson is always gonna be behind the newly resigned to a long term contract Scola? -Hassan Whiteside perhaps? -Draft Patterson send him to the Vipers and he plays well when he comes back. You dont explore trades involving Scola so far? -It turn out Budinger wasnt a gem in the 2nd round, nor JT, nor Landry since he is gone. Brooks is you only gem in the lower first round. Now its talks about him leaving for nothing in free agency. Your LATEST NON-MOVE Morey probably wont do to get something back for him.
Also, who ever did the recruiting in 2008, should be fired. They past up Nikola Pekovic and DeAndre Jordan for Darrell Arthur and Joey "freakin" Dorsey.
Scola's contract only guarantees him for 3 more seasons, after this year. Patterson still needs to develop his game. In 1-2 seasons, he should be able to pass Scola. In Scola's last 2 years, the Rockets would still need good backup PF for the bench. Whiteside hasn't done anything in the league. I mean absolutely nothing. He's even worse than other raw rookies in previous drafts. He was struggling in the NBDL.
Batum doesnt really matter. We got Artest. We'd have traded Batum to Sacramento anyways. I know I loved the Artest deal.
I can see the DeAnde Jordan problem, but I don't understand Pekovic. He is an injury prone center with foot and ankle issues, that missed 1/3 of the games played so far. Pekovic got injured around the same thing that Yao did. Even when he is healthy, he has been really awful in the post.
Nope. not at all. not at all. you do the amare trade 10000 times over. with or without physical... how else are we gonna get a star? scola + cook + battier would have been AN ABSOLUTE BARGAIN had we got Amare for that. Now you can try trading Blake Griffin for Amare and maybe you'll get him..
A star that misses 30 games in season doesn't lead to rings. Look at the last 5 seasons of the Rockets.
How many games did he miss last season? How many games is he missing this season? How much production is he putting up this season? How much production was he putting up last season? Amare could play half the games Battier/Scola/Cook plays, and he would still contribute more to the team than those 3 combined playing 82 games. Just look at results. Amare was in the Conference finals last year. Scola/Battier/Cook were in the lottery last year.
For the last 5 Years, people have asked to trade Yao Ming, but get quickly get foamed by YOF,s. Yao should of been traded long ago, at the first sign of foot issues, and fatigue issues.
No. I disagree. Yao makes more and contributes more to this franchise than oil does to the Middle East. Morey just shouldn't have made him the cornerstone of the franchise. Les should have spent a few million of the billions he drained from Yao on a few good players.
After missing half the previous, he played a full season. Whopee, It's T-mac all over again. Rockets made it to the conference semi finals, 2 seasons ago. Yao busted his foot, and the series was over. They would be treading water and get knocked out of the first round again for the years that he is healthy, and be a borderline lottery team the other teams. It would just prolong the rebuilding cycle. Stoudemire and Martin would have been fool's gold.
