    Could be......could be.

But we are not paid to make those tough choices, DM is....and to get better, or compete, we need a player that could be a superstar, right?

We have some that have not peaked, but do you see superstar in any of them?

No, and I didn't see it in the summer either even if others were overly enthusiastic about our talent level. I believe we should have been aggressive in trying to move up, and that certainly that would have included giving up Brooks/Budinger/Hill. I believe the Rockets were willing to do so as well. I don't know or remember what was reported as far as what teams like Philadelphia or Sacramento were asking for. It probably would have involved giving up future picks and accepting some awful contracts, in addition to giving up our best (albeit limited) young players.

Yeah, I think that was a missed opportunity for sure.....banking on Yao coming back, while I understood it, seems to have been a major flaw in the organization's thinking.

What would you give up, right now, for Evan Turner or DeMarcus Cousins?

Brooks, Budinger and Jordan Hill for Demarcus Cousins would be a steal for us.

Tough to say, less for Turner as we have so many wings and more for Cousins I guess.

    Turner sucks lol, poor Philly.

Talk about bad management. You guys can bash our FO all day, but I think they have done a damn good job. Look at the emergence of Patterson, the drafting of Landry, Brooks, Budinger, etc.

The fact that we haven't given out a franchise killing contract yet speaks volumes. We will get our franchise guy eventually and when we do we will be consistently great.

    Two words: Amare Stoudemire

In any other profession you'd be fired for dropping the ball that badly.

How much more? You seem to be arguing that the Rockets should have given or taken back whatever teams were asking for back in summer to move up. And that they didn't do so was a failure on their part. I take it, then, that as a minimum you'd give up AB + Budinger/Hill, our last draft pick (Patterson), and our 2012 pick for Cousins? I'm not sure even that would have gotten it done last June.

    MOREY'S MISTAKES:

DRAFTING RUDY GAY AND TRADING HIM AWAY FOR SHANE BATTIER.

THAT COST THE YAO/MCGRADY ERA. AN ENTIRE ERA OF ROCKETS BASKETBALL.

    AMARE, WHATEVER WHATEVER, IS IRRELEVANT.

He can't stay healthy 2 full seasons in a row, unless he takes off nearly a whole season for rehab(see 05-06, and 2 healthy seasons of 06-07 and 08-09).

You only do the trade with a physical required. I would not waive it.

Wow .... HeyPartner, haven't seen you for a long time ... glad to see an oldtimer contribute some insight, instead of the knee jerk panic posts we see so often these days.

He's also not worth 6 years $120 mil. Especially not with the Rockets recent history.

    1. Not making the Amare deal.

    2. Trading Batum.

I didn't list the the Rudy Gay trade since its been listed enough.
