IT and Kanter. Both where dirt cheap. But see this hurts our cap flexebility. Kanter will be a free agent this off season and will get paid big money over multiple years. IT is on a fair deal but his contract is also long.

Jarrett Jack expires in 2015 and has a team option for 2016. He would of been a nice player to pickup for cheap, who wouldn't have hurt our flexebility. I can't imagine him costing more then a expiring, Canaan and a couple of 2nd's.

Plumlee also would of been a cheap replacement for Dorsey. He averaged a double double last season and has size, would of been a nice backup C.

Knight is awesome but was really expensive, don't know if we had a chance at him.

    I would have rented Dragic.

    Go all in.

Shved and 2nd for Bayless. 2nd and Dorsey for O'Quinn.

Only move I really would have had interest in was renting Dragic. Even though it could have ended horribly.

A lot of these other names don't move the needle. IT would have been nice but I don't think PHX was playing ball with us

I wanted Brandon Knight, but you are right, the Suns were in desperation mode and wanted to "save face" badly enough to pay that price for Knight.

I also think you are right that there is a good chance that the Nets/Jack deal fell through for Morey when OKC shifted gears from Lopez to Kanter.

The Rockets moves were clearly back-up plans. Sometimes the cards lineup right and sometimes they don't.

I wanted O'Quinn, Dorsey and a 2nd would have been too little for him.
I thought about Bayless too, I think he wouldn't have fitted in well with Harden.

Dorsey and a 2nd too low? Probably so. I just noticed his PT has been next to nil post-deadline. Those are the deals I would have made though. Maintained flexibility but grabbed guys that might be able to actually move the needle.

Henson or Pachulia from the Bucks or Plumlee for Canaan and a 2nd.

Terry, NOP pick, 2017 pick (with the same protection Miami gave), Shved for the Dragic brothers.

    OR

Terry, 2017 pick, one of the 2nds that went to NYK for Isaiah Thomas.

AND if one of these deals are done, I do the KJ Daniels deal and think it makes a lot more sense.

I don't think there is a chance Dragic would walk away from an extra $30M (more like $40M+ considering taxes and before COLA) from Houston, the chance to play with his brother, and be on a legitimate (guaranteed) contender, just because he is wary of being an "asset" down the line.

If not Dragic, you get a piece in Thomas that makes you legitimately much better (IMO) for this year and next without sacrificing your ability for max space in 2016.

I think IT at $6.6M in 2016 is a huge bargain. Let's say they still do the McDaniels trade and sign him for 3-4 years at $4M per, let Brewer walk, and get Smith back on a 2 year deal for about the BAE (really what is left of the MLE not used on McDaniels) and retain Harden, Jones, Ariza, DMo, Capela, and Johnson, as well. That would mean we would walk into 2016 FA with about $43M in cap space if Dwight opts out.

    This.

The way the deal unfolded it would be very hard to get Knight without really going over the top.

Heard that the Nets wanted a surprisingly high amount for Jack.

After the Heat upped their offer to two unprotected first round draft picks, it became very hard for the Rockets to get Dragic without paying what they would have paid with an assurance he would resign. The Heat paid full rate because they over paid (reading between the lines of what Morey said) and because they can retain him.

Unfortunately there wasn't much out there this deadline that fit our needs and circumstances.

From the interview of Morey and a separate interview of Kupchak, I believe there are talks regarding the 2 Lakers moving to the Rockets as a short term rental.

    Hill and Ed Davis.

And because both signed a 1+1 contract and they do have the rights to reject any trade offers.

I think at the end, they may think that playing 10-15 games in the next month in Houston as a temporary Dwight fill in and then probably getting almost zero playing minutes in the playoff will not help them to get any good contract offer next season anyway, hence none of them willing to come here.

Otherwise, I would like to see one of them come here before the deadline.
