Disclosure: I'm a conservative who votes Republican when I do vote (don't like the electoral college and therefore don't vote for president)

Republicans stand for individual liberty (freedom). They scream it at the top of their lungs. This means less government.

Democrats believe in limiting freedom to protect individuals from themselves. What Republicans disapprovingly call 'the nanny state'

    As for examples:

This is presidential candidate and socialist Democrat Bernie Sanders on deodorant choices

Sanders believes that an individual may spend their money poorly and therefore the government is justified in taking it and spending it on something important. A republican would argue '**** off Bernie, its my money and ill spend it on what I think is important.' . A less enraged republican would argue that individuality (which stems from choices) is the what makes the world great..

IF you believe the majority knows whats best for an individual and should therefore have more control in how they should act or spend their money, then the Democratic party is for you. If you think the individual should be in control then the Republican party would be for you (atleast it used to be)

Repubs are usually dumb, less educated, lack charisma and passion, watch egg ball ahead of better real sports like basketball

Dems same but to a lesser extent

There is only one party and that is the highest bidder. I hate the manipulative aspect of politics.

To try to cut trough some of the snarkiness here the two parties as they are now (not as they were 150 years ago) are basically defined along these lines.

Democrats are generally left of center which means they are more tolerant and accepting on social issues and economically are slightly more in favor of collective goals over individual. Democrats tend to be more cautious about the use of the military and more international in approach.

Republicans are generally right of center which means are less tolerant on social issues and economically are more in favor of individual goals over collective. They tend to be more in favor of use of the military and in favor of American exceptionalism.

Both parties are also closely identified with regions with the Democrats being associated with the North, West Coast and urban areas while the Republicans are associated with the South, Midwest Plains and rural areas.

Both parties though are diverse coalitions of often very conflicting interests. In the case of Democrats big labor versus Environmental and for Republicans Evangelicals versus Big Business. Also given the nature of the US electoral system particularly that Congress is dependent upon coalition building and winning the presidency is a matter 50 state races and not a single country wide popularity contests. This means that there are contradictory positions in both parties and while there are extremes in either party overall they are much closer than what you would see in parliamentary system where there are many parties.

Finally you have to consider that the ultimate goal of political parties is to win elections. The issues will change and the party platforms as they are now aren't even what they were 30 years ago.

Also keep in mind that while threads like these show there is a lot of cynicism, partisanship and negativity, neither party are truly the party of evil or good. There are good, smart and principled people either party and of course many who aren't any of those things. The best thing to do is not get so obsessed with the party labels but look at the issues and the candidates.

As to the first bolded part of your article, that doesn't mean anything. That doesn't make a principal or teacher more likely to be a Democrat.

As for the second, do you really think that school is unionized?

If that's what you're basing the claim on, then the claim is baseless

    nope.

conservative heroes reagan and junior are two of the biggest government/biggest spending presidents we have ever had.

and republicans clearly do not believe capitalism is a great economic system or they would not love corporate welfare so much. in a true capitalist system the people who fail would not have been bailed out. they would have been left to die and allow someone else to give it a shot. that is capitalism.

The Republican party consists of mostly white Christians. Given that, they are relatively oblivious to problems that minorities face in America. White racists are more likely to gravitate to this party. They also want to enforce Christian values upon everyone else in America. They want less government intrusion and more private sector activity. They view the government as being bloated.

these sentences contradict each other meaning you have no idea what you are talking about. You cant want to enforce values and want less government intrusion.

The rest of your post is just immature and intellectually lazy. Just call your opponents racist and you won't have to debate the concerns of less individual freedom.

Democrats are a mix mash of various groups but generally center to left of center.

Republicans believe in limiting rights of women and minorities but extreme individual freedoms for the white and rich. They use "conservatism" to attack anything that might impede the lifestyles of aristocracy and benefit the lower classes.

It really is a representation of different classes. Republicans are the interests of the well-to-do, dems on the other end.

So where does a forced vaginal ultrasound fall in line with this?

Conservatives what less government, unless they are talking about social issues, in which case they want to dictate the terms and have the government enforce them.

"We don't believe the government should get between you and your doctor."
    (unless you want an abortion)

There is a concrete example of the hypocrisy.

    So...yep.

To protect the freedoms of the child. Stopping murder violates individual freedom? Again you are just being intellectually lazy.
