Arguing Rubio as having intangibles and winning ways like Hayes is a moot point. The main thing with Rubio is his contract which pays ~13 million vs Hayes which was ~2 mil. Even if you account for the new cap etc, that is a massive difference. Sure. Rubio at 4-5$ mil per year is a no brainier. But for our team, especially since we place a premium on shooting (see Ryno's 20$mil) and we have an intangibles/winner type guy in Beverley who plays the same position and for the friendly contract at 5-6mil, I am not sure what Rubio's benefit is to us right now.
Actually Beverley was not a great defender last year. He was getting beaten off the dribble and in foul trouble often last year. He is more of an intimidator than a good defender.
Is Rubio an exciting player is the only question needed to be answered when regards to this era in Rockets history. The team is not built to win a championship, its built to be exciting and fast-paced to help line Les' pockets. Speaking of Les, does he have a kid who will take over the team at some point in the future or will he end up selling?
Rubio's contract is very much a value contract for all the things he brings to the table. Worth every penny and then some.
rubio's contract is horrible for the player he still is and might be at his lowest as far as his impact on winning. looked horrible at the olympics being such a non factor and hes bout to be outplayed by Dunn and maybe even tyus jones this year.
hes never been great value and its not just being measured at the olympics. the Olympics is just further confirmation of most of our views regarding him for the past few years.
Not a bad player at all. Just a bad shooter, but everything else is top notch. If he can get up to 38 percent or so from three, he will be just fine. Certainly an upgrade for the Rockets.
He's not a bad player by any means. He is however a terrible, terrible shooter, scorer, and IMO finisher. If he was on our team as the primary ball handler and distributor, that would be one thing, but he won't be. That would be Harden. If both of them play in the 4th, where you KNOW Harden will be playing, all opposing teams will have to do is sag off him and double up on Harden.
Yet if he slayed boys at the Olympics you would be posting vids and saying "I told you so" and shoving more Doritos into your face
I don't think a Rubio/Harden tandem wins a Championship, but I also don't think it matters since GS now has Durant and Curry. What Rubio/Harden would bring is a high scoring offense that racks up regular season wins, makes Harden the highest scoring player in the league, and lures season ticket holders to come to the games and spend money on concessions, all things which are probably very appealing to Les. We need to accept the fact that winning a Championship would require certain things be done that Les apparently has no patience for.
You know Clutchfans don't make the trades. If you want this Rubio Movement to work, you have to reach the people that matter. I don't think Morey has ever heard of Rubio, evidenced by the fact he hasn't traded for him.
38% from 3 likely moves him psst cp3 in the point guard rankings. That's how good he is art everything else.
Ok, wow, I'm just speechless now. I did not know there existed a person on this planet that hated Doritos.
Hakeem-level D, would make Harden, who right now is a TOP5 player in the league, the GOAT. That's how good he is at everything else. What's your point exactly?
