What is probability that Derek Fisher actually plays a game in a Rockets uniform?

Judging from the interview with Daryl Morey this morning, I have strong doubts that he'll ever play a game in a Rockets uniform. I don't think Fisher wants to spend his last days in the NBA playing for a team that's on the fringe of playoff contention in the Western conference. If we don't buy him out, he will undoubtedly exercise his $3M player option next season and we'll have to watch a 38 year-old Derick Fisher sit at the end of the bench in a Rockets uniform and eat up cap space. I think a buyout probably makes sense here, and my guess is that we'll reach one in the next week.

    Thoughts anybody?

He doesn't fit in our long term plans. I think it's going to be a mutual decision to cut his ass and let him re-sign with LA.

I think he should be bought out as well. However I don't think it will be done until Lowry is back and healthy

But does LA want him back? Brown's regime is trying to eliminate all remnants of the Triangle offense. Fisher ran it well.

LA can't get him this season regardless. He's welcome to sign with another NBA team though. Hell, the Knicks seem to have a thing for Old as **** point guards so maybe he'll go there.

I bet we'll buyout D-Fish, and sign Anthony Carter.

Less than 50%, I'd imagine. The Rockets made the trade for the draft pick. My guess is they reach a buyout in which Fisher agrees to take a $1.1 million or so haircut (i.e. the amount of veteran minimum) on the contract for next year.

This means that Fisher can essentially chose his own destiny next year (whether returning to the Lakers or not) (assuming some team still wants him) by signing a minimum wage contract without losing any actual $.

The Rockets get slightly more cap flexibility in the exchange.

Didn't yall hear? We're gonna sign Aaron Brooks soon

But seriously, unless we plan on using Terrence Williams as our backup PG while Lowry is out for a month, I think we'll see Fisher playing as our backup.
