you know how they say "you can't teach height"? well, can you teach "hands"? I know one can improve shooting, but can you improve hand-eye coordination? He's got terrible hands, and i say that as someone who absolutely loves Omer. I still think he's a double double guy, but his hands will keep him from being any kind of a real offensive threat.

Omer Asik ceiling is a less athletic tyson chandler that would play great defense but without the alley oops.

I expect about 8pts and 12rbds with 1.9blocks this year... but i see his ceiling as more around 15pts and 14rbds with 2.8blks while winning dpoy...

I think we have seen his hands improve from the 1st few games already.

Chuck improved his hands a lot over his first few years.

I was a big fan of Omer when we signed him. Problem is that he is not a 40 minutes a night guy. That means we need to have a legit back up Center. is that guy Cole Aldrich? or Greg Smith? don't know, but play them and we'll see. Bottom line it is a lot easier to sign a back up Center in the NBA than a starter, and I think Omer is showing that he is a starter.

I hope higher than 7 feet or he'll get neck aches and bad posture

NA, He could be BETTER than VLADE.

Vlade averaged 11.8ppg, 8.2rpg, 3.1 apg, 1.4 bpg, and 1.1 spg throughout his career.

I agree, he'll be solid but I don't really see him as a big offensive threat. Hands are hard to improve.

Give him an additional 15-25lbs of muscle over the next few years ~ the guys going to dominate the paint for a decade.

I agree, I'm seeing improvement everywhere. Hell he dunked the other night.

Different styles of course. But from a productivity standpoint, I want to say Ben Wallace. But then my dream is for the Rockets to be Pistons 2.0. Asik as our Wallace. Lin/Harden as our scoring back-court ala Billups/Hamilton. Parsons can develop into Prince. All that's missing is a supremely talented 2-way big. And hopefully a better bench.

Tyson Chandler is a great finisher at the rim and was a great athlete in his prime, still a pretty good one at his age.

When your offensive skillset is as poor as Asik, I doubt it'll get much better. His ceiling is probably a little bit better than Samuel Dalembert.

needs to start catching tennis balls and footballs like Yao did with Thibodeau (although i'm not sure how much that really helped him), and of course train with Hakeem during the offseason.

Asik is a way better rebounder than Tyson Chandler.

Just as how Tyson Chandler is a way better scorer.

I see Asik's offense game is improving though, it may be too early to say. What I don't like from Asik is his screens, maybe it is the timing, it doesn't look efficient, and he gets offensive fouls for moving screens.
