I normally drink alcohol for the effect. Which isn't to say I am seeking s#$%faced oblivion every time I drink for the effect. Though occasionally I will crave the taste of beer or Bookers bourbon. Some of the fruity frou-frou drinks are quite tasty, but I presume they are mostly to allow alcohol to enter the systems of some who are adverse to the taste.
Animals seek out fermented fruit on trees - there are definite health benefits, but I think mainly it's the altered state of mind.
That's hot...lol. I don't think we could handle an alcohol-induced and even more crazy Isabel on this board. "Girls Gone Wild" could, though.
I dont really like the taste. The only drink I really love is a Mojito. However, I have the single LOWEST tolerance of anybody out there. I start to get a buzz after like 1/3 of a cocktail. I've never even tasted beer...just feel like I would throw up if I ever did.
I'm in between. There are times where I would like to get a buzz from it, normally after a long bad day. I love the taste of beer. I don't look forward to getting drunk when drinking or anything, although it does eventually come. I know a bunch of guys who would say in the middle of the week "Damn dude, I can't wait to get DRUNK this weekend. We're going to get ****ed up." I never thought that was very mature. To beer, it's liquid curage.
Man, it's a little bit of both for me. It really depends on my mindset and mood at a certain time. For example, my favorite experiences drinking are going to Bennigan's (the only restaraunt bar in my hometown that stays open late) until 2 in the morning drinking their Long Islands with a couple of my friends. We all are relaxed and having a really fun time. It's definitely a combination of both of the choices on the poll.
I don't drink beer because I can't stand the taste but I will drink liqour to loosen up a bit and if it dosn't help, I'll just drink more until I'm feeling good but not so good that I feel my stomach turning.
I drink a couple of nights a week. Normally towards the end of the week. I don't drink alone. It's more of a social thing for me. The point isn't to get myself drunk but....
