Because this is the off-season, and a boring one to date... I've been trying to think of some the possible line ups that the Rox might put on the court this coming season.

    I'm looking forward to this:

(Dependent on T-Mac's Return to a Serviceable Status)

    PG: AB
    SG: T-Mac
    SF: Ariza
    PF: Landry
    C: Dorsey

Speed, Athleticism, and scoring/finishing options. If Adelman can manage to capture some of the flashy play from the Sac Town days... This could be fun to watch.

    Any ideas???

As the team is currently constructed, I don't know that I'm "looking forward" to seeing any lineup.

The line up is not yet set so things would or could drastically change in the next months. There are holes to fill up and options to consider regarding expiring contracts. :D

Assuming no Mcgrady at the start of the season...

    Brooks
    Ariza
    Landry
    Scola
    Anderson

I would like to see more opportunities with Landry at the 3 and Scola at the 4. Last year Landry showed more promise with his 15 to 18 ft jumper, and a good first step to the basket. With his finishing ability, I think my above lineup could out hustle most any starting 5.

The current roster does not offer a playoffs team regardless of how you configure it. The West is too tough. The Rockets are in the bottom tier unless some significant influx of talent occurs, which I doubt. Should TMac and Yao return and stay healthy, obviously that changes. I doubt that as well. Bottomline, this is a "rebuilding" year for the Rockets. If TMac and Yao are resigned, sit on the bench with injuries (almost certain), then the "rebuilding" year becomes the "rebuilding" era. Hopefully Les will come to his senses (unlikely) or listen to Morey (possible) and TMac is shipped, Yao is resigned for nickels on the dollar, short term and the Rockets land a super star or two. Then, happy days are here again.

In your heart you know I'm right.

I'm curious to see if Scola and Andersen can play together. Offensively, they have the potential to be a pretty potent duo.

I'm also curious to see if Taylor or Budinger can step in immediately and fill Wafer's old role.

Budinger maybe, but I doubt Taylor could develop that quickly.

Wasn't Taylor touted for his NBA-readiness, though? That's what everybody was saying coming out of the draft. How he's such a good scorer, one of the best athletes in the draft, ready to step in on day one and basically replace Wafer. His summer league play seemed to indicate otherwise. Hopefully at least Chase is the real deal.

Great point on the front court duo. If they can produce, meaning as a tandem then the chances of making the playoffs will vastly improve.

It wouldn't surprise me to see Taylor on the floor more than Budinger at some point in the season. Landry was physically ready to play coming out of college, but stunk it up in the summer league. I personally don't use the summer league as any type of barometer as to how well a player will play in the regular season with the big boys. Though I was impressed with Chase's play as well as Dorsey. Both Taylor and Budinger will have to improve defensively to actually get on the floor this upcoming season, but Taylor looks to me as if he's the more natural scorer. Im glad the rockets have some promising young prospects for the new season.

    A line up of:

    T-Mac (healthy)
    Ariza
    Battier
    Scola
    Brooks

looks like fun 5 to watch together.
