He won ROY and looked like a stud last year. This year he isn't looking so hot. I guess this is why the Sixers tried to trade him in the off season. So what happened?
Coming off injury, its his 2nd game back, I imagine he'll be fine. Although it still remains how good he'll be, I actually think Wroten at this point might be a bit better, if he can get his turnovers down he'd be a solid NBA point guard. Just seems faster and more confident on the floor. You could tell he was calling for the ball and MCW wasn't having any of it. Could be interesting to see if Wroten becomes the alpha of that team. By the way, Sixers have fight in them, against Dallas & Toronto were two of the only games they've looked absolutely abysmal but most other games they fight hard to win.
He's played all of 2 games. You wrote this thread as if he's been sucking for 20 games. And he actually played pretty well vs. the Mavs.
Actually Wroten's game does remind me a bit of Harden's. I do think he's a legit NBA starter, only 21 years old and not just the best option on a bad team.
Inflated stats. Evan Turner looked like a competent player in Philly too, and now he's a complete scrub.
Wroten is a much better player than Turner ever was, and is also only 21. Turner was chucking at 25 years old, Wroten has time to become seasoned and further develop his game.
But yeah, his stats are inflated however he's not a horrible inefficient player. Average efficiency, just turns the ball over too much but does have confidence on the floor that other highly touted talent around the league seem to lack .
RE: Wroten What do you guys think of Morey trading for him? He seems to fit the Morey blueprint, i.e. threes, lay-ups, and free throws, and he plays pretty good defense (in fact, I believe defense was his calling card when he was drafted). Philly has their PG of the future in MCW, so Wroten could be available. Hinkie and Morey obviously have a relationship that could facilitate trade talks. Maybe we can even extract a big like Sims or Davies.
Why not? He's a starting caliber PG that will have to take a backseat to MCW. At some point, that's going to create some trouble.
I think Wroten is an interesting player. He has decent handles, developing vision, great athleticism, and he's really young. I'm not sure what to think of his shot since he's not a very good FT shooter, but his 3P% is..kinda average/okay. Really upped his numbers, but I'm not sure if thats because the because he's particularly grown as a player, or its his pretty high usage rate (I think it's around the same as Harden's). If Wroten is brought in, I'm assuming he'd be a 6th Man/2nd Unit guy. He could be a good spark since he plays at one speed: Crazy. Like, if Lin's TOs drove you mad, this guy averages 5 TOs a game. But I think the Rockets need someone thats more capable of carefully navigating the team. Then again, maybe playing him alongside someone like Terry will kinda counteract that, but idk. Also I think the 76ers plan on playing him at the 2 with MCW at point, so they might be inclined to keep him.
His efficiency and advanced stats last year were terrible. Prime example of a guy stuck on a garbage team getting the green light and inflating his stats.
Bill also said MCW just came back from an injury. Wroten has gotten his minutes. MCW comes off the bench and gets less touches. Interesting their coach didn't go with Wroten (who was killing us) in the endgame. Kept giving the play to MCW. Coach must have remembered the tanking memo from Hinkie.
Ahh, didn't know he was injured. Even coming from injury, I don't see why that should matter unless he's playing hurt? I only follow the Rockets, but look at the box scores of other teams every now and then.
Because what you view as a starting caliber point guard is actually playing on the worst team in the league. He only looks good in comparison to his team mates.
The real question is whether or not MCW-Wroten is a viable backcourt or not. MCW-Wroten-KJ McDaniels-Embiid-Noel Not bad
Actually I think this is very bad and probably 2-3 of these guys won't even be with the Sixers next season.
