I say we ditch Parsons, then use our cap space on Deng/Gasol. Or something of that ilk. We can't tie up 15 million on a glorified role player which is Parsons. Spending that cash on him will NOT win us a ring, he's not good enough and then we are cash strapped again.
People need a few hours to process it all We went from Championship Dreams .. . . to drudging it out Rocket River
Rather have parsons/gasol. I say we go all out for love but what can we even offer besides asik who may be traded ?. This sucks we really needed bosh
I just feel like I was taken up to the heights and then dropped to earth. Hard landing. May take awhile to recover.
doesn't make sense to do nothing but match parsons. that would CAP this team at worse than last year's team (no asik, no lin). 1) bite the bullet and let parsons go. fill out roster with one-year contracts. Pray that 2015 free agency goes better. basically sacrifice a full year of dwight to at best a second-round exist. 2) spend the bosh money on whoever the f*** will take it. Lance Stephenson--you wanna be a super sub? Go for it bro. Luol Deng--think you can play the 4? Sure thing, take my money. obviously going after restricted free agents doesn't work cuz the timing is f****** with chandler.
there was some rumor on the pelicans board started by an insider who wrote something cryptic (doc rocket) style and said it would be clear on Monday. Seemed like a 3 way deal between Hou-Milw-NO with Ilyasova and OJ Mayo involved.
If we had Bosh, Parsons was worth keeping even at $15M because that's a loaded starting 5. I'm FAR less inclined to give him an unmovable $15M/yr deal and cap out what becomes a slightly downgraded version of last year's roster. I'm not saying blow it up, but let the Mavs tread water with that roster and Parsons and try to bring in more sensible pieces for next year. If you do keep Parsons, you better LOAD the team up all you can first. I'm not completely against Gasol, but I'm fairly concerned about his rapid deterioration.
Lin and Asik will generate 2 TEs for some overpaid contracts elsewhere. Also will allow the Rockets to keep their MLE. Also, neither the Asik nor the Lin trade has been finalized. It's possible Minnesota has asked for a crapload for Love that so far Morey hasn't been willing to give, but may have to relent now. Same with Rondo and Boston. So one of Lin/Asik can be part of a 3-team deal. Morey has contingencies. They just don't look nearly as good as just having Bosh.
