I think Morey has made it pretty clear that he values the talent of the player much more than he values his height. Just look at our roster.
A great scoring punch off the bench is the worst case scenario. I wish he had a bit more athleticism, though, because his body sometimes has trouble catching up to his feet.
One possible answer: A Houston Rockets basketball player averaging over 17 ppg on 47% from the field and 41% from behind the arc over 12 playoff games this postseason. Sure, the A/TO is unimpressive and he's a SG, a dummy, a midget chucker, whatever... I'll take what we're getting out of him for now. Whatever happens in the future, happens in the future. Game 7 up next.
He's got Bobby Jackson - ish stats (and the same coach) BJ(2nd yr at Sac) 11.1 PPG 44.3 %FG 36.1 %3FG 81.0 %FT 2.0 AST AB(2nd yr at Hou) 11.2 PPG 40.4 %FG 36.6 %3FG 86.6 %FT 3.0 AST eerily similar?!?
Aaron Brooks has Parker-like mid-range shooting and finishing ability, better than Parker 3 point range, and simply non-existant awareness or passing abilities. If I were another team, I double him and make him pass. Because his passing is maybe the worst I have ever seen.
What do we have in Aaron Brooks?? How about a mixture of Tony Parker and Allen Iverson OOOohhh man thats one scary combination
Barbosa may be a great 6th man, but Aaron Brooks has a much higher ceiling as he can actually be a point guard. No way I'd even consider such a deal.
I think the Yao/Brooks PNR or PNP will be deadly next season. Both can shoot it to keep defenses honest, and you can't give Brooks space or else he leaves you in the dust. Plus, it removes some of the stress of having Yao bang down low while also keeping him effective.
I think Morey has made it pretty clear that the size and length of a player's contract and how it impacts our flexibility in the future weighs heavily in deciding which players to bring in. Just look at our roster.
Consistency separates the stars from the role players. So far, AB has been brilliant at times, but couldn't maintain it on a regular basis, especially when other teams adjust to his speed after a huge game. So far, we've only had 40~ games since the Rafer trade to work AB into the starting lineup. The next year will be more indicative of what we have in Aaron Brooks.
Steve Francis light. A shooting guard in a pg body, very effective when his shots are going in. But can't really run a team otherwise. 16 asssits, 19 turnovers against Lakers. He's still the best PG option Rockets have at this moment, but hopefully that will change next year. He can be lethal coming off the bench, better than Wafer doing that.
