IMO, they should pay DJ and keep their core 3 together. Redick is signed for a couple more years. Even though he went flat the last 3 games against the Rockets, they should keep him unless the right offer comes. They need to consider letting Crawford walk. There were rumors he was on the block before the trade deadline. His post-season was pretty sorry and he may be past the point of being effective after a long 82-game season of heavy minutes. But Crawford is the only creator on their team besides CP3. At this point in his career, Crawford is best suited to play 15-20 mpg instead of nearly 30. He's an 8th-9th man, not a 6th man. Nobody else on their team is worth discussing. They are stuck with Spencer Hawes for 3 more years. No other team will consider taking on that contract for a deadweight player. It will be hard for the Clippers to be a better team next year unless Blake goes to another level. His physical talent has always been there. His skill level keeps improving. The key is he must adjust his mentality to where he wants to dominate every minute he's on the court, especially late in games. He becomes tentative, nervous and an easier cover in crunch time. It should be the opposite. Bottom line: They need legit depth and Blake must become a top-5 player who can be counted on down the stretch. They also better hope CP3 doesn't decline any. He was at the very top of his game this season.
It was more than rumours. Crawford was fully aware of it and went to twitter. Created some very bad feelings. Their lockeroom in general must not be a very good place. That's another reason why GM and coach should be two seperated roles, even if only in paper. You can't ask someone to give all in court and fight for you the next day after you went behind his back and tried to trade him away. And were stupid/careless enough to let it leak to the press.
Reddick played shutdown D on Harden's iso plays. Their SG position is not a need. Their biggest needs are a better 3 and a backup 5.
Have to keep DJ. I doubt they have the opportunity to get a single transformational player (aminu is not that guy). They've got to to be smart about their acquisitions and dump everyone else. I like the idea about another gm, but I have no idea who. Maybe even Gerson Rosas?
There's no need to panic for the Clippers. According to one well-respected poster here, they are clearly superior in everything than the team with the 3rd best record in the NBA and currently in the conference finals. They are sitting very pretty right now, what with their incredible amount of talent and game and overall awesomeness.
Crawford and Redick are safe, Barnes has to go, rivers also i bet might. Upgrade those two or just one of them and obv do something about Hawes spot
Need to hire a GM first and foremost. Doc can't do the in-season scouting in the draft (not like they have a pick this year but regardless...) and overseas. They need to find overlooked guys that can contribute off the bench and they only have minimum contracts to do so for years. Guys like Robert Covington, and Chuck Hayes before he came to Houston. Buy 2nd round draft picks. Pretty much hire a GM like Morey. Ballmer seems to be a pretty smart guy obviously. How long before he sees the major inefficiencies with how his team is managed, and sees the strengths of others like the Spurs, Rockets, etc.
They need a GM to trade for a two way shooting guard and sign a two way small forward for additional depth. All this should be done without losing any of their core. So hire Daryyl Morely and go after Cliff Brewer and James Smith.
Monta is going to demand too much money. And with DJ probably getting a max deal, Clips will have even less to work with. Bench needs to be upgraded. They need a better backup 1, a better starting 3 (Barnes is a good role player) and a back up 5 (someone in the mold of Hassan Whiteside).
