Have Royce White go into the opposing team's locker room while the top-notch FA is taking a shower and convince him how bad he wants play with him.

Maybe I've read things wrong, but once your team has its 5 year player (e.g. Minnesota, Clippers), wouldn't the only difference in offer be the ermm 3% raises over 4?

definitely. Rox needs to build up win momentum first and foremost, fans tend to show up when there are wins to cheer for(our homecourt is way too empty.) Secondly Rox needs to solicit more media coverage, which can somewhat make up for the gap between H-town and tier one markets.I have the impression that our marketing team is nice, but not market-oriented enough. Rox needs to hire more seasoned professionals to lead this team to shape a better commercial platform so that big names don't need to worry about losing value for leaving for Houston (yes, Houston is a large city, but we are talking about basketball)

Why would big names want to play where half the hometown fans cant even watch them? Pffft.

Winning is first and foremost, so ignoring thaat one:

    - Work hard with sponsors, both local and international, to ensure that players have great access to avenues for making money outside their contracts. We'll never be the Knicks or Lakers in that regard, but we can maximize our potential such that we are the best medium market team.

    - Given our disadvantage of not being the Lakers or Knicks, we need to give players a reason to choose us. One competitive advantage could be to have the most player and fan oriented organization.

    - Another competitive advantage should be to work with local media outlets to ensure that praise of players is maximized such that they gain national recognition for their achievements.

    - Have the best facilities top to bottom. That includes things like locker room, showers, drivers, counselling experts, more assistant coaches, exceptional treatment of players' families and close friends, etc. Make sure to market this aspect hardcore through the players themselves (social media, word of mouth, etc)

    - We need to sell out more often. To do this would require more wins but also a change in strategy which I don't think the organization is ready for - these corporate give-away people are really hurting the atmosphere and irritating the loud/proud fans. We need to ask ourselves how to make Houston more of a basketball town where Houstonians feel more invested - rather than hop on the bandwagon only when we make it far enough in the playoffs.

    - This one is somewhat unethical and probably against league rules, but we need to kind of artificially develop rivalries. Not with the biggest teams because those matchups generate enough attention anyway. But our rivalry with the Utah Jazz for example shouldn't be dying out - there's a long history there which we could maybe rekindle a little bit (though it would be limited since we're not contending at the moment). Players like to play in these games, fans love to be at these games.

    - Give visiting players (both participating and non-participating) the royal treatment at the All Star game.

Lots of things we can do to close that gap. Would cost more money obviously but well worth it IMO.

A more enthusiastic crowd perhaps? We're like at the bottom 3 in the loudest crowd in the NBA category.

It's more complicated than that, unfortunately. Houston isn't a premiere destination because we have a smaller media market and the history of our sports teams (outside of Hakeem) have pretty much sucked for all of eternity. We have no tradition here, and the only way that could possibly change is if the Texans win the SB. Alot is riding on that. If the Texans win the SB it could change the media presence in this city and change fan perspective. Which would create more jobs here.

If we can draw out some more educated members of the media to start supporting our town then it will only help boost the Rockets chances long term.

If the Texans don't win the SB then we are screwed.

If James Harden is any indication, better strip clubs.

I don't know why people aren't looking more at our oppurtunity to get someone like Stephen Curry, Brandon Jennings, or Ty Lawson. I mean I know Brandon Jennings wants out of Milwaukee even though he's a restricted free agent, but getting Brandon Jennings and James Harden as our starting backcourt with Jeremy Lin working as a 6th man off the bench will help him the most

I can definately see us making a trade for Josh Smith at the deadline and then getting Bynum in free agency.
    Lin
    Harden
    Parsons
    Smith
    Bynum

Thats a pretty good lineup. The only thing is I haven't heard any news about Morey pursuing Jsmoove
