The only way is to convince CP3 and Dwight by telling them that theres not much out there to go to where you can team up. You can both stay on your current teams of course but not that big of a window left for either team and they would love to play together. Houston doesn't look so bad now that the popular major cities already have their superstars.

The scoreboard is nice... it's not a difference maker for free agents, in my opinion. Getting Harden is the first real big step towards being an attractive free agent location. The Rockets haven't been able to compete with glamour locations or teams that already have stars in place. If all else is equal, I think Houston will be considered a top spot again.

The problem is the elite level players aren't going to leave their current locations under the new CBA. Sign-and-trades don't allow them to have their cake and eat it too -- they don't still get every dollar that way AND get to pick their spot. I have to think that if CP3 and Dwight are still on their respective teams (in a top city like LA, no less) past the deadline (and I don't see why they wouldn't be), they'll stay there.

With that said, I'm confident the Rockets will make their pitch once again.

The upcoming all-star game might be a good opportunity to showcase the city and what the Rockets organization has to offer.

Weather, no state income tax, Harden having a good year, and having young players who show promise and are well-regarded around the league can make the Rockets an attractive destination. If they can make the playoffs and be competitive, that will also help.

The Knicks and Lakers can't put their superstars together.
I don't want the Rockets follow them.

You won't have to lure big name free agents if you draft smart and coach/develop your players. They'll become the "big name free agents" you're talking about.

Houston shouldn't concern themselves with being more attractive than NY, LA, or maybe Miami, but should be as attractive as anywhere else. No reason for a Dallas to be any more attractive than Houston now that Harden is in H-Town and Nowitzki is just getting older.

In 1998/99, the Rockets had the Dream, Barkley and Pippen, but they lost in 1st round Playoffs.

That's not buzz from the FAs after seeing DAL visitors' locker facilities vs HOU visitors' locker cubicles and the DAL Blackbird vs HOU single-propeller tri-plane. I mean, the players could barely care less what the fan experience is like with the giant scoreboard.

What do the Houston visitor locker rooms have to do with a player wanting to play here? If he played here he wouldn't be in the visitor locker room

Did we really need a new thread about this tired old debate again? The Rockets have done everything they can-

#1. Brought in a star player that is popular amongst the league, and unselfish

#2. Brought in an international icon that can really help create visibility internationally

#3. Have managed to keep a max contract slot open in their payroll

#4. Brought in a top flight defensive center who can erase mistakes on defense

#5. Have a great destination for NBA players- No state tax, CST for easier travel, great facilities, urban lifestyle, great weather in season, etc.

What else can they possibly do???

They can infer the home lockers from the visitor lockers. In a lot of ways the visitor lockers are the best FA-attracting advertisements, but you wouldn't know anything about that when you are a brusque no-nonsense hard-nosed businessman who treats your employees as...just employees.

    ;)

I mean, have you seen the DAL locker facilities? It's definitely an efficient investment.

    ;)
