you should naturally expect his production to increase since he's on a weaker team. He had other potential hall of fame point guards in bibby and davis on his team and he still scored 10 ppg so you have to tip your hat to type of production on a playoff team.
he's just as good as dragic with that type of point production especially considering he was putting up those points on the Knicks which was a playoff team.
It is either him, Livingston or a undrafted rookie for our PG position. Heaven help us, if HE doesn't like those odds of him starting here.
He's a young solid player and he's here to stay. I love to have this guy play well for us especially if the Knicks is paying for his salary.
He can't be any worse than the endless list of horrible PG's that have ever dawned a Rockets jersey. Yes, I'm talking about Bryce Drew, Eldridge Recasner, Rick Brunson, Charlie Ward, Rod Strickland's and Mark Jackson's not so glorious end to their careers here.
Calling Douglas an asset is a slap in the face to assets everywhere. Assets HELP you get better stuff. Douglas was good enough to be part of a group of contracts to get the Knicks a 38yr old backup center. If we get Dwight Howard, we likely sign a legit PG and Douglas sticks to the bench barring injury. If we are are rebuilding, look for Morey to develop him to turn him into a true Houston Asset: not good enough to be a superstar, but intriguing enough that other teams would look at.
I'd rather have Brooks starting and Machado as the second PG and Ish Smith as the third. I think he can also be an asset in one of these big trades.

Surprised no one mentioned Avery Bradley as a comparable in this thread. I have very high hopes for Toney Douglas, as long as he NEVER EVER plays PG again. I know that might seem crazy, since he's only 6'2", but this guy is an outstanding defender and very good perimeter shooter, along with being one of the biggest irrational-confidence guys in the league; he thinks he's the best player on the court and has no fear of taking over a game. No one would ever think of Jason Terry or Eddie House as anything but pure 2-guards, despite their height. As long as the Rockets don't make the same mistake with Douglas by trying to make him into what he will never be, he could easily be a rotation player.
