I would say take some actuary courses (you have to be very strong in math), take that exam (you don't need any credentials to take it), and get yourself in with an Oil & Gas company. It'll be entry level at first, but there is a huge potential to grow.
Being 30 is cool, the medical field is cool, both simultaneously, also cool (story bro). My original comment was just replying to the people that said medical field because I would imagine it would be tough in your mid-late 20s (or older), go back to school and study while your friends are having fun, then start a brand new career. If you can, all power to you and I have much respect. I'm just saying I think it'd be very difficult. I guess when people say "medical field" I think of getting a doctoral degree, but it's not necessary just to get in the "medical field." School nurses are in the "medical field" and Reliant Energy sales reps are in the "energy industry."
I've seen the potential oil and gas has and that's why I'm interested. Actuary classes?what's that? After the exam what would be my title?
As sappy and philosophical as it sounds, this answer is 100% correct. Focus less on the job market/salaries (they always fluctuate anyway) and more on what you actually (and realistically) WANT to do for a living.
