I had an epiphany last week as to why the Jazz play so much better at home. There's nothing to do in Utah, so the Jazz stay in, take it easy, and get plenty of rest. Then they go out on the road and even a city like Dallas must feel like a fun park. They probably go out and party all the time. Less focus, less sleep, etc. Yeah, it's a funny dig at Utah and all that, but I'm actually serious.
Jazz is actually playing defense at home, holding Lakers to 24% shooting in the first quarter so far.
Sounds just as reasonable as anything I can come up with. I was just thinking about this, and it really, really baffles me. And I wonder : Are the Jazz playing really WELL at home, or is it that everyone else just plays poorly there? And why the hell is it like this? I just can't understand it. That said, it's early in the game. We'll see what happens.
Utah is OK if you're looking to check out some of the national parks. Actually, its great if you're going to check out some of the national parks. I was there for a field trip a couple summers ago, and it was the strangest place I've ever been. We were driving around on a lot of back roads, and you wanna talk about backwoods? These were the smallest, weirdest little towns I've ever seen. Not a whole lot there. Of course its pretty much unlivable. (So I don't get flamed...) Lots of conflicting emotions watching this game. I really don't like the Lakers, and I want the series to be long and brutal. On the other hand, I would love to see these guys get swept, accompanied by lots of close ups of the fans.
I like it. Much like Evolution, until someone comes up with a better theory, we shall have to run with it.
The Jazz might as well not show up for Game 4 if the Lakers win this game after shooting 30% in the 1st half.
I didn't realize Boozer guaranteed a victory tonight. He also guaranteed the 2nd seed in the WC when he came back from his injury.
