Such an incredible and intense experience. Beautifully shot, amazing sound, brutal action. Perhaps it may drag at times, but it didn't bother me a bit because of the amazing shots. And the performances were stellar. I totally bought into the characters and didn't see the actors behind them.

cinematography aside, best aspect of the film is Bridger's survival...
    leading to Aldo Raine.

Great film, enjoyed Jeremiah Johnson more.

    I have a hot take...

I thought Tom Hardy was better than Leo in this movie.

    Flame away

Just got home from watching this. What an amazing movie. Beautifully shot. Great performances from both Leo and Hardy. Hopefully Leo finally gets his Oscar.

Is this movie suitable for a 9 year old? My nephew is an impressionable youth and gets easily frightened by dangerous situations on the tv and movies.

Personally, I would avoid it if that's the case.

Dont do it, some nasty scenes. But saying Hardy stole the show is not saying much at all because he had one expression on the whole time almost....

Do it, breh. We need to desensitize him to these things early.

Yeah, I'll never bother watching it again but I'm definitely glad I saw it on the bigscreen.

I thought the dragging was integral to the story, frankly. It's a lot of the point of it.

Amazing movie..and the scenery on screen was just fantastic.

I took my 11 year old because he loves history and he can handle zombie movies. He loved the movie.

    But every kid is different.

To me, him and Leo were both brilliant but in different ways. Whereas Hardy may not have displayed much in his facial expression, his dialogue was completely engaging. Reminded me of Jeff Bridges in True Grit; I just hung on his every word. Leo on the other hand didn't have very many speaking lines but conveyed all his emotions through his body language and facial expressions. Just incredible performances from both of them.

I haven't been that jarred by a bloody scene since Saving Private Ryan and the machine gun attack.

Agree. That's why I would say "maybe not" to a sensitive 9-yr-old.

It's an immersive movie that doesn't shy away from the real violence encountered (rather via animal or human).

I don't think this movie was an acting competition between Hardy and Leo.

They both did a fantastic job in this pic. Leo because of his lack of dialoque perhaps had the more difficult job. That isn't easy to be that good without saying lines.

    If this helps any

It's rated R (for strong frontier combat and violence including gory images, a sexual assault, language and brief nudity)

Got to watch out for the strong frontier combat...sounds very manly
