Liked this guy before we dumped him but man he's got some bug pressure as far as expectations to live up to... Really hope he is the defensive anchor we need along with PJ to get this team into the top 10 that would indicate we've got a legit shot
He shot 37% the last 2 seasons, and 36% for his career. He's not a sniper, but calling him a mediocre shooter is an undersell. Defenses won't ignore him, which is the most important thing. But we did this for his defense, for which he is an amazing individual and team defender. He will also finally take some pressure off Tucker. I absolutely love adding Covington and think he will help this team immensely. However by having to trade Capela for him, we may have just opened up another weakness. Small ball is great in doses, but in a seven game series when teams have time to gameplan for it and only it, I think we're gonna get punished. So I can't be thrilled overall with this trade, although I'm not mad about it either.
I haven't been paying attention to him recently but, on the Sixers he was nba all-defensive first team and 4th in dpoy voting.
Covington is arguable one of the best wing defenders out there. Clint relied on Harden and Paul. Jordan Bell might easily replace that. Plus we have money to add someone still... sooooo let's see what Morey can pull out of his hat by thursday.
your point about small ball at the bottom is what concerns me as well, think its solid attack for most teams in a single game analog but a series agaisnt a longer athletic team yikes !!!
Well that’s not deceiving at all. Why didn’t you post the seasons in order? Is it cause he’s progressively gotten worse? Why didn’t you post this years numbers thus far? Because he’s dropped all the way down to number 148 right?
