(WAFF) - Tuscumbia police are trying to root out a burglary suspect now missing part of his nose after police said the robbery victim bit him during a struggle. Police investigators said the robber walked into a home on John Street in Tuscumbia, grabbed a coat and started walking out. That's when a man sleeping in the house woke up and started fighting with the suspect. Somehow the victim bit the suspect's nose and a large piece of it came off. The alleged burglar took off. No one in the house was hurt. "We know the offender had an open knife in his back pocket and had a screwdriver in his hand," said Tuscumbia Police Sgt. Jeremy Williams. "It was a deadly situation." Williams said officers found the tip of his nose inside the home. (Click here to see picture of nose - GRAPHIC) He said a check of medical facilities in northwest Alabama did not turn up anyone being treated for such an injury. A person of interest in this case is William Cole. Anyone with information is asked to call the Tuscumbia Police Department at 256-740-5757. Way to take a bit out of crime!
