This was definitely a good win for them. Belichick is a mastermind. But getting a bad snap which leads to a missed field goal where the kicker was 100% (28/28) from at that distance is definitely lucky to me. Patriots get their token win a year via missed field goal.
I don't think you can count those things as lucky or unlucky. Players get hurt, when they break the rules they get suspended, that's just part of the game. A fluke missed 47 yard FG? That's luck. Nothing was done or not done that led to it.

I remember when a certain someone was trying to make the case that the Texans should draft Sammy Watkins first overall and how he was a better WR than Nuk Hopkins. Funny looking back at hot takes like that. Looking back on it, the only 3 guys you should even have in the conversation for the top spot other than the guy the Texans took are Aaron Donald, Derek Carr, and Odell Beckham, Jr.
Part of that is also KC's struggles against the Chargers who are a bad team AND missing their #1 WR. Sure they made a comeback, but why were they down by so much to begin with?
After a 12-4 season the Texans opened up with lots of expectations against SD and were down by about the same as KC and came back to win.....Texans went on to go 2-14. SD has had some massive 2nd half collapses in openers in recent years.

Yeah....it's a shame about RG3, I was a big fan of his when he was in college, but I always thought he'd be a bust in the NFL. He's way too smart a person to be as dumb as he is on the field.....he STILL doesn't know how to slide.
At least the Cowboys didn't sign RGIII as their backup QB option. He and Romo would have probably been injured in the same game.

I thought the interesting thing about Mariota's was that he was picking Minnesota apart all game, but when asked to throw his way down the field from behind, he couldn't do it. Jeckyl and Hyde. It looked like he is a great front runner, but not good at throwing from behind, and maybe needs a balanced attack to reach his full potential. Probably more like Aikman, but still need to see him connect on some long balls too.
