According to Mitch Lawrence of the New York Daily News, the Los Angeles Lakers have a desire to move power forward Pau Gasol.

Lawrence states that the Lakers have used Gasol as their scapegoat for their second-round exit against the Thunder this season along with other past playoff failures. He also writes that the Lakers are willing to trade the 31-year-old even if the return value isn’t equal.
Lawrence cited Grizzlies owner Michael Heisley as a guy who “has always wanted to bring Gasol back.” It was announced this week that Heisley is selling the Grizzlies to Robert Pera, but that sale now is in trouble, according to Lawrence’s league sources. If the sale does fall through, then the Grizzlies will continued to be owned by Heisley.

Gasol has played for the Lakers since moving over from Memphis at the 2008 trade deadline and has helped them win two championships, including one against the Celtics. He averaged 12.5 points and 9.5 rebounds in 12 games this postseason.

I don't know what unequal return they would accept but Scola +14 would be a done deal for me and Lakers might consider. That way you can still trade Lowry/Martin for something and we don't need the two picks (only as trade assets).

If he's a part of a package for Dwight Howard, yes. If not, pass.

Martin and fortson that's about equal. They get cap relief and an up and coming point guard that is going to be on chris paul's level. Do it, maury!

    Scola and the #16.

I will be furious if we trade #14 considering Marshall, Leonard, Lamb, and Zeller will probably be available around then.

#16 and Scola and its done.

Then trade Lowry for a good C/PF and draft Marshall/Leonard/Zeller to backup who ever they are behind in their respective positions.

I don't want him unless he comes with a superstar...since that isn't going to happen.

    PASS

    Scola + #16 would be a no-brainer.

I understand people who are opposed to his aging, expensive game. I agree with that thinking. But Scola is also aging and expensive, and not as good.

    And who else wants Scola?

This would be an upgrade in exchange primarily for an asset that you can't get much for anyway.

The team still has Lowry, Martin and the #14 to either keep, trade for value, or move up in the lottery.

I would think that LA would be really interested in Dalembert's contract. Scola+Dalembert for Gasol works under the cap. The trade would save them a ton after cutting Dalembert.

Add in the #16 pick and it isn't such a bad deal for them.

Not excited, but if the deal is right, why not? This team has to do "something" to get out of the rut they are in. Give the fans something to be excited about, even for a little while. The years of mediocrity are really stacking up.
