I had seen other reports that this is just a pr stunt by the rep that proposed it. He knows it's not getting through this year. Just not enough momentum in the lege this time around.

Wait so he might be okay with Coke and Opium too?! Haha just talking about his first quote...

Anyway I think Texas likes the silly laws, and unfortunately Austin can't carry the state forward... I think it'll take forever for mar1juana to be legal here. Probably a lot longer than that even... I wish it wasn't so, but while the pro business sounds like a great reason, the pro cop/prison stuff also lines politician's pockets too.

I mean they were seriously looking at ****ing evolution textbook reform iirc, that's how far we are from being able to vote on Mary Jane. We were close to being lumped in with ****ing South Dakota and Oklahoma!! Yes, please teach my kids about creationism!!! Such bull****, as much as I love texas (I'm from houston), some of us are so backwards it's not even funny. I mean this guy quotes god for his reason, I'm all for mar1juana but I don't need politicians making other decisions when they're making them off their religious beliefs. He should have cited some science paper or the economy boost Colorado got, no instead he needs to be "god told me/made this , blah blah " or whatever. I have no problem with anyone's religious choices, I do have a problem when it's used to make decisions that can change laws for everyone (unless that decision is on pro drugs, then I'm okay with it) :) I mean what if he later promotes banning man made pharmacy drugs/research, obviously that might be stretching but god didn't directly make those...

Anyway we'll probably be the last state with legal mj, but these other states aren't too far of a drive. I mean if you aren't smoking already/anyway.

One other point, is a county in Texas was seriously looking at giving a young 18 y/o life in prison for pot brownies (might still be in trial), that's how stupid our state is. It'll probably take us 50 years at this rate, ****ing life for pot brownies wtf, I mean it's not like the cops who arrested them hadn't tried a pot brownie before...

Lol, I wish it was a real vote, I'd vote ASAP, but let's be real, what would the cops/prisons do then?

the scientific and economic approach has been preached for ages. he knows the religious angle will get the attention most of the voters in texas even if he isn't religious.

We at least need medical Mj here. I'd love to give up my prescription pain killers and try MJ instead for my chronic pain.

This. My employer is based out of Washington state, but nothing has changed for us since legalization, due to the fact that we never drug tested in the first place (software/tech industry).

Hb 2165 effectively repeals all statutes relating to mar1juana offenses

Looks like it's all or nothing with having a regulated industry in this legislative session

Such a vague bill has no chance of going anywhere..

Where is the one that outlines regulation for the Industry.. are we going to see it by the end of the period?

I find that personally humorous because I was speaking to a Goldman Sachs investor last week and to paraphrase "When there is a gold rush, Goldman Sachs makes money by investing in pick and shovel companies"

    Found this on txcann

Submission deadline is this friday, on the 60th day of the session.

what's going on?! 2013 had a mmj bill that died, it would be silly to not even try this time around in 2015. Maybe they are waiting til the last moment.. I hope

Did they wait til the end for added emphasis? In the face of David Simpsons crappy bill this should look great to lawmakers. Playing on the psyche of the pols maybe?
